This was possibly going to be a very catastrophic occasion for Cedric.
It was just before sundown, right about the time that he got active when it came to his true job. And it was his true job that he was about to perform.
There was no Shakespeare on him, instead he was fully supplied with hidden blades as well as sheathes for his two gunblades hanging at his hips. The weapons themselves he held in his hands--both were fully loaded, with an extra supply of bullets in his pockets. Goggles with blue glass lenses and a black leather strap rested on his forehead, making his hair even more messy. However, he still wore his glasses, as he was horribly nearsighted regardless of what job he was doing.
Puck was fully equipped as well, with his extra pistols and longswords all belted into their correct places on the drake's saddle. The drake stood at the ready, understanding that this was time for business. It was enjoyable, Cedric thought, to see the Tiros (who were accustomed solely to Puck's mischievous and playful nature) shying away in fear at the drake, who now stood proudly at the starboard side of the Drakonborg, wings slightly open to feel the breeze.
Both drake and rider had a similar attitude: once it was time for business, one wasn't allowed to fool around. Puck's definition of business, however, did not always coincide with his master's. However, a night raid was always something to be fully prepared for, especially with a task such as this.
Cedric strode (for once, confidently) into the mess hall, locating easily his erstwhile companion by her vibrant cerulean hair. As he approached her seat among the other Iduneus, the Drakonrhedi parted around him, partially out of respect, and partially out of the fact that he held two bared weapons and wore a face lacking in any softness.
Once he had a sufficient amount of space around him, attention on him, and was fairly close to his new partner, he twirled the blades comfortably in his hands, reversing the grip with a flourish and sheathing them.
"Iduneus D'Aufai," he greeted her: formally, but with a hint of warmth hidden behind the propriety in his tone. He leaned down, resting his hands on the table and attempting to hold her gaze. "I believe you were told that you'd be going on a mission later tonight?" One blue eyebrow arched in inquiry.
"I certainly hope you're ready."
He stood, hands moving to rest comfortably on the hilts of his gunblades. "I'm your new patrol partner, or at least until Vetr Niflhason decides to mix it up again." He gave no indication that the partner switch had in fact been his idea, instead projecting a slightly tired air. "Ah, well. Doesn't matter. We have more important things to worry about now. I'll give you mission details on the way."
Please don't let her remember what happened.
There was no sense in thinking about that now. He had a job to do, and another job on top of that. They had to both get out of there alive, with mission successful, and he had to figure out how well they actually worked together.
"Come on, then. No time to waste, darkness is almost here."

Ade lounged in the mess hall, a leather belt coiled around her waist as she awaited her partner. She wasn't actually sure who she'd been assigned. A Pyrfektus had just recently informed her of the sudden patrol that she'd be accompanying, and quietly added that she had a shiny a new companion who'd be joining her shortly. Strange. She hadn't had a legitimate partner for... well, quite a while. She did have one, who managed to decapitate herself a few days in. She was just grateful that the patrol was taking place at night. Three days had languidly passed, but her drunken bout rooted in her head for quite some time. It, of course, was at its peak during the first morning. Even in an entirely blind state of being, the irritating white orb in the sky would have only triggered the massive headache that she'd been roughing. She managed to subdue it by the second day. By now, she was entirely recovered, although her memory remained utterly indifferent. Oh well. That was the past. She sat in a somewhat populated table, having developed an uplifting cushion of isolation from the people around her. Not many seemed to be interested in greeting the blue haired wonder, especially with the weapons she did nothing to conceal. Two axes draped from her aforementioned belt, followed by a set of thin swords. There was a small bag of powder, should she need to make a hasty escape. She typically carried poisoned darts, although she doubted they'd be especially useful in this scenario. They were practically useless on large behemoths. Still, she couldn't bear to part with them. "Iduneus D'Aufai."She perked at the familiar voice, unable to properly pinpoint the origin. It was certainly a man. One she had met before? It seemed to be the case, but who knew. "I believe you were told that you'd be going on a mission later tonight?"Agh, who was it! It was on the tip of her tongue... Holy crap just turn around and look. She stubbornly followed her advice, slowly rolling her head around to face her companion. "I certainly hope you're ready."Oh fuck.Wait, why was she feeling weird? They kicked ass last time. Sure, she got a little tipsy. A lot of tipsy. She couldn't recollect anything beyond the restaurant... agh, why did she feel weird about it? She definitely passed out - something that she had gathered from the deafening hangover she awoke with. Wow. She was kind of a tool? Maybe she should apologize for scrounging alcohol from the man. "I'm your new patrol partner, or at least until Vetr Niflhason decides to mix it up again."Speaking of mixing it up! I'm sorry for drinking all those cocktails dry. They were yummy."Ah, well. Doesn't matter. We have more important things to worry about now. I'll give you mission details on the way."She quickly sprung to her feet, her weapons clanking together as she did so. The Vetr seemed relatively calm. He was almost determined? A nice touch to his aura, she had to say. "Come on, then. No time to waste, darkness is almost here.""Hey. Don't talk about me like that," She said, a smirk spanning across her face. Yeah, that apology thing wasn't going to happen anytime soon. "Hey. Don't talk about me like that."
One eyebrow raised yet again, accompanied by a small smile, as Ced shoved the doors out of the mess hall open. I'd bet my finest tomes that Freya's watching. She's got to figure out who it is, anyway.
"I'll assume you have your drake ready and move right along in our orders of business." He mentally scanned his checklist.
"Which would be mission details." He began to make his way to where his drake stood, almost imperious for once. "As you've probably guessed, this is a night mission." Normally, night missions were harder than usual, but most Drakonrhedi could handle them with a fair amount of ease.
"A night ground mission."
Those were much harder. He'd worked solo on them before, never with a partner--he hadn't trusted someone else's ability to keep themselves alive. Thus, he was taking a bit of a risk.
The Drakonrhedi's main strength, similar to that of the entire human race, was the fact that they were airborne and fast. Even a Chorata couldn't keep pace with a drake. But put the riders on the ground, and you removed that advantage, meaning that they only had their magic and human abilities. Additionally, they were much slower targets. It was one of the reasons village life was so fraught with danger--they couldn't flee up.
"My scouts have located a verified Pyropan nest in a cave at the eastern edge of the Drassil Forest. Both parents appear to frequent the area. We'll be going in and clearing it out. The issue is, we don't know if the eggs are hatched or not yet."
It was much easier said than done. Even baby behemoths could be an issue, especially to two people on foot. Cedric had done missions like these in the past, but... he'd only had himself to look after.
Arriving at Puck, he once more tested the straps of the saddle, ensuring that they were just precisely at the right spot. "I'll be honest, I've only done solo ground missions before. I'm counting on you to not die." He didn't mention the other part about 'keeping up.' He was fairly certain she could do that.
Placing one foot firmly in a stirrup, he swung himself onto Puck and pulled the goggles over his eyes.

"I'll assume you have your drake ready and move right along in our orders of business."Ade nodded in response. Fern was, of course, mildly equipped for this mission, although none of it would actually aid Aid. She did have a dagger stashed in her saddle, but the drake preferred to fight on her own accord. Not that she minded. "As you've probably guessed, this is a night mission.""All looks about the same to me," She mused, shrugging. "A night ground mission."Oh. Well, that was slightly different. She'd done perhaps one ground mission before. Two? She typically ended up with an impressive array of scratches and wounds, due to the apparent lack of an escape route. She had a nasty habit of throwing herself into the battle. Particularly towards large conglomerations of behemoths. "My scouts have located a verified Pyropan nest in a cave at the eastern edge of the Drassil Forest. Both parents appear to frequent the area. We'll be going in and clearing it out. The issue is, we don't know if the eggs are hatched or not yet."Oh, I hope they're hatched! No. That was a stupid thing to be wishing for. A hatchling could easily rip off her limb if it so desired. But I like it when the squeal after I stab them!"I'll be honest, I've only done solo ground missions before. I'm counting on you to not die.""Wasn't planning on it. I've only done group ground missions. Those were a drag."Quite a few people died, actually. Oh well. Tags: Cedric Vyrrson Inspiration: Notes: AHGHHHHHHDSFJKSDFJ I DID IT! Table made by Opal.

"All looks about the same to me."
Cedric nodded. He hadn't really thought of that. Perhaps Ade would be useful on these missions--someone who wasn't as affected by the night would be good to have around, even if his alternate mission should fail.
"Wasn't planning on it. I've only done group ground missions. Those were a drag."
The Vetr chuckled. "They are a bit of a trick to pull off."
Once he was certain he could hang on for the ride Puck was probably about to give him, he nodded to Ade.
"Well, best saddle up. We're off right about... oh, say, now."
Just as the sun slipped beneath the horizon, Puck dropped from the side of the Drakonborg. At first, the pair fell like an arrow, the drake's wings tucked against his side and Cedric pressed tightly against his back. The frigid air bit deeply into the Vetr's bones, but like his rank indicated, he didn't bother. More cold-resistant gear would've been appropriate for any division other than the reconnaissance groups--they required stealth, after all.
After a moment of freefall, Puck opened his wings, catching the air like a blade and sending them shooting forward. The wind whispered over the taut membranes, making barely a hiss signalling death.
Every mission begun with the knowledge that one side isn't walking out.
It was something someone had once said in passing to the Vetr when he was a Tiro, but he'd taken it to heart.
The wind was unseasonably cold, sending shivering tingles through his body. He glanced down to the compass embedded in the saddle, checking his direction. Then, raising his arm, he gave the signal towards where they were headed--right at the eastern edge of the massive forest rising out of the cliffside--and let Puck shoot forwards, tugging the drake's reins to angle him in the correct direction.
Mission going as planned, for now.
That probably wasn't going to last long. The Vetr didn't trust their luck, of course, and instead chose to keep his eyes scanning the horizons continuously.
His valiant watch paid off soon enough, as the telltale rusty brown feathers of a Chorata flashed steadily up and down in the moonlight. It was coming towards them, and would intercept their path soon enough.
He pulled back on the reins, Puck slowing at his master's command to fly wingtip to wingtip with Ade's drake.
"How silently can you fly?" he inquired, barely loud enough to be heard over the rushing of the wind. "It'd be a pity if we ended the mission before getting it started, but the two of us could take a single Chorata. Flying over, however, may be a good idea."
Puck could handle evading the notice of a Chorata, that's what the drake was trained to do. He'd been specially selected for his silent wings.
"Gonna leave this one up to you," the Vetr added. Partners were equals on the field, after all. Plus, he was curious as to her decision.
However, she didn't have long to choose. Soon, their paths would intersect.

"Well, best saddle up. We're off right about... oh, say, now."Ade nodded, having mounted Fern just prior to his instructions. She licked her chops eagerly, her slightly bulky body shifting as her tail flicked to and fro. He stormed off the Drakonborg in an instant. She squeezed her thighs shortly after, tumbling off the edge of the ship alongside the Vetr. She allowed him to plummet, Fern's wings erupting outwards as the wind roped them in. Fern wasn't a fan of dangerous dives, much to Ade's dismay. It's just something that she had to cope with. Fern's wings pummeled the air mercilessly, propelling them forward with Cedric snaking under them. Damn, his drake was fast! They had slid right beneath them, bustling forward and speeding into the distance. She scoffed. Oh, they think they're soooo fancy. Leaning over, a click sounded from her mouth as Fern made a desperate attempt to accelerate. She certainly wasn't the fastest snow drake out there. She only chose her because she shied away from the other Tiros. She didn't seem very interested in acquiring a rider; Ade could remember the discontent radiating from her. They were perfect. It was great. She removed her gaze from the distant Cedric, who had lessened his speed considerably in the past few seconds. There, just as she had presumed, was a smudge of a slightly peeved Chorata. Could he see it? She didn't know how far normal people could see in these situations. She swung beside him, saying, "There's a thingy over there.""How silently can you fly?"She looked at the excited beast below her. Not silently enough."It'd be a pity if we ended the mission before getting it started, but the two of us could take a single Chorata. Flying over, however, may be a good idea."Again, Fern wasn't particularly special. Ade had little use for silence. By the time her foes viewed her, their vision was brutally severed in some way. She liked to target eyes, even if she couldn't exactly pinpoint their location. Odd, how one would succumb to their fate without that "necessity". Someone could gouge out her eyes, and no difference would be made. Well, it might sting for a bit. But other than that - nothing! "Gonna leave this one up to you."She sighed. "Okay, we can try. But I kinda doubt it's gonna work." She climbed upwards, Fern's wings pumping wildly as they rushed into the sky. The Chorota was growing nigh - in fact, it was nearly upon them. Not far now. Just a few seconds until the moment of truth. Three... two.... It glided right under them. "Wow, what a dumbass."It's flight pattern came to an abrupt halt. Oh god dammit. It cast one peering glare in her direction, making note of the rider's imminent presence. "Okay, fine. I guess I'm the dumbass. Who cares," She hissed, evading to the side as the highly anticipated attack came towards her. She withdrew one of the two large axes, allowing it to lounge in her grasp as she rounded the massive bird. She pulled up to its left side, thrusting the weapon towards the Chorota. A wave a pain infiltrated its aura, letting her know that she had made her desired mark. "Oh, come on now. You can do better than that. Get me before I take out your other eye! Yeah, that's it. I'm over here." She dodged another unsurprising lunge. Fern wasn't very swift, but she could get the job done. Taking advantage of the baffled beast, she zipped beside its face and yanked her axe from the bloody remains of its eye socket.

"Okay, we can try. But I kinda doubt it's gonna work."
Cedric nodded. "Alright. I'll cover for you, don't worry."
As Ade climbed higher, the Vetr signaled to Puck to drop lower--a move most would consider entirely suicidal.
"Cloak going up," he hissed to his drake. A slight rumble reverberated through Puck's flanks in recognition.
Closing his eyes, Cedric reached out to the ambient shadows. Darkness swept over his form, obscuring the life forces of the pair as well as shielding them from view. Ade might even have an issue finding the two, only a slight shifting of energy in the night.
As they were covered, he patted Puck's neck, signalling that they were covered. Although the cloak may not have been of much use against, say, a Titanothain, against a Chorata it worked just fine.
He drew a sword.
Ade dodged a narrow bite from the monstrosity before embedding a throwing axe solidly in its eye. Perhaps some pent-up bitterness at the dysfunctionality of her own sight? Didn't matter, she was good at it.
"Oh, come on now. You can do better than that. Get me before I take out your other eye! Yeah, that's it. I'm over here."
Puck was shooting forward like an arrow of darkness.
Cedric grinned, wide and toothy, at her taunt. She yanked out her axe as the Chorata lunged again, its jaws snapping shut on empty air just to the side of her, meanwhile leaving its neck wide open.
The pair shot directly underneath the Chorata, and in a splash of blood, Cedric sliced its neck out.
With a gurgle, the behemoth fell from the sky, and Cedric dispersed the shadows with a wave of his hand, coasting up beside Ade.
"Well played. Let's get moving."

Ade watched as a faint figure shot underneath the Chorota's throat, slicing it open it one swift motion. The figure pulled away just as quickly, the monster discharging a repulsive choking sound. It's blood cascaded into the depths below, the corpse soon trailing after it. She took a moment to assess the shadow. She could certainly sense its presence, but... it seemed to lack emotions? It served merely as a mass of energy, hardly visible in its current state. Her weapons remained poised. "Well played. Let's get moving."The energy dispersed, leaving the Vetr to take its place. A mildly impress expression washed over her face. "Let's."Fern pushed forward once again, retaining her typical speed as they advanced towards their destination. She, for the most part, allowed Cedric to both literally and metaphorically take the reigns. She hadn't a single clue as to where they were going. She hadn't personally encountered such a cave before. She used all of her (or moreso Fern's) power to slide beside Cedric. "How'd you do the thing with the shadows n stuff?" She asked. In fact, she hadn't acknowledged his magical field up until this point. It just wasn't something that crossed her mind. Tags: Cedric Vyrrson Inspiration: nada Notes: SORRY ISBAD Table made by Opal.

"Let's."
Cedric had hardly waited for Ade's consent, as he was accustomed to taking a more leader-like (some would say headstrong) role. In a moment, Puck was once more shooting towards their destination, leaving the Iduneus to play catch-up again. Thus, he missed her slightly impressed expression, betrayed by his own desire for an efficient and smoothly running mission.
Perhaps I should wait for her. You know, partners and all.
Conscious of this fact, the Vetr tugged lightly on the reins. His drake reacted, slowing as Ade slipped up beside him.
"How'd you do the thing with the shadows n stuff?"
He let out a chuckle. "Oh, it's pretty easy. You just pull the ambient shadows over you. Takes a little bit of practice to get your form perfect, but otherwise it's not incredibly difficult. It's why I run night missions all the time: you can cheat the hard part." Cedric paused. "What'd it look like to you? I'm practically invisible to anyone else."
As they spoke, they continued at a swift clip towards their destination. Soon enough, he spotted the copse of giant birch trees beside a small rocky tor that the Drakonrhedi he'd sent to monitor the area had described.
"And here we are," he spoke just loudly enough to be heard over the wind--a precaution, really. They weren't close enough, but one could always be more careful. There was no harm in ensuring your own life.
Puck automatically aimed towards a tree unusually far away from the glade. "My plan is to disembark and proceed on foot, with the drakes providing emergency backup from the trees." He pointed at the sturdy birch that his drake was already pointed at. "I can sneak in with a fair amount of ease, or at least clear the way to the door. There's no way to avoid engaging the behemoth inside on foot, it won't leave the clutch."
An odd thing, behemoth parental instincts. He really ought to look more into them. Might be a useful way to add insult to injury against a foe, because that's what he was really all about.
The pair danced through the air, avoiding the twigs surrounding the trees before Puck finally swooped upwards to alight daintily on a branch. Cedric leaped off, pulling a length of rope with a grappling hook attached to one end from the side of Puck's saddle.
He waited for a moment so that Ade could catch up. Her drake did not seem as nimble as his, although he might be biased. Puck was, after all, perfect in every manner.
"Now to decide if we descend here or try to hop a few trees," he hissed.

It's why I run night missions all the time: you can cheat the hard part. What'd it look like to you? It was probably impossible, but that, like many other things, wasn't going to stop her from trying. "It's kinda the same. But also pretty fucked up? I mean, I couldn't really tell it was you. Ugh. I don't know. I guess it's kinda like when you're drunk?" She paused. That probably wasn't the best thing to bring up. No, something definitely went down. But what was it? Probably something dumb. I don't know why I suddenly feel weird about it. Gah, why's everything always so strange? "And here we are."Oh thank god.Ade took a quick whiff of the scene. It didn't seem especially important - no baby Pyropan that she could sense. "My plan is to disembark and proceed on foot, with the drakes providing emergency backup from the trees. I can sneak in with a fair amount of ease, or at least clear the way to the door. I'm here, it's only fair that I get my share in the killing."Her arms disbanded as she gripped the reigns once again, Fern leeching to the branch that Cedric had reached only a few moments prior. "Now to decide if we descend here or try to hop a few trees," he hissed. She dismounted her drake, her gaze falling to the rope in Cedric's hands. She certainly wasn't one for "hopping". She had quite a difficult time determining distance, and was a god-awful judge of anything akin to it. Sure, she could throw things, but that was an entirely different concept! She couldn't just throw herself from place to place. "Uh... I don't care. Whatever you want?" There was a tinge of nervousness in her voice, to which she mentally slapped away. "It's kinda the same. But also pretty fucked up? I mean, I couldn't really tell it was you. Ugh. I don't know. I guess it's kinda like when you're drunk?"
That wasn't something Cedric wanted to hear right about now.
He licked his lips once, then replied with a fair measure of dignity, "Really? Hmm. Most curious."
Lips that she kissed-
Shut up.
It was a good thing they were literally moving on. He didn't need more mentions of that gnawing away at his already precarious confidence, the mission might be compromised.
"Oh, what, let you have all the fun? That's kinda lame. I'm here, it's only fair that I get my share in the killing."
He gave an overly dramatic sigh and roll of his eyes. "Fine, I'll share. Just this once."
She dismounted quickly. It seemed as if neither of them were particularly inclined to dillydallying--he just had no clue how to function in a partner setting.
"Uh... I don't care. Whatever you want?"
He scowled at their two options. "Honestly hopping looks like more of a liability than anything in this particular neck of the woods," he stated, punning almost without thinking. "We might as well descend here."
Securing the hook end of the rope, he tested it, then swung himself down, dropping quickly and braking just before he hit the ground for a silent landing. It was hard to find a person nowadays that didn't know their way around ropes, most were raised on airships, after all.
Once again, he pulled the shadows around him, drawing his blades quickly.
Let's just hope a Titanothain doesn't come sniffing about. The big predator would be all the more interested by the scent of Chorata blood.
He took a moment to orient himself while he waited for his partner. Quietly, he strode towards the grove immediately before the maw of the cave, footfalls masked by years of specialized experience. Or, well, about as quiet as they would get on dry leaves.
Peering through the bushes, he quickly reversed his grip on one blade as he crouched, poking his head about to look for what might be in the glade. He was in a fairly secure position, with two wide-based tree trunks to his flanks and the shielding brush in front. Perfect, in fact, for an ambush.
And, sure enough, there was a Pyropan, standing but a few meters away. He turned to Ade and gestured at it. Hopefully she'd get the point.
He was tempted to walk up to it and slit its throat, but he had promised her some of the fun. Instead, he slipped off to one side, behind one of the giant trunks, motioning for Ade to do the same on the other side. Then, adjusting the grip of his sword once more, he pointed it skywards and made a small circling motion.
Puck, high in the trees above, swatted down a pine cone.
The Pyropan's head swiveled their way, a fiery spark of feral intellect glittering in its gaze, the color of blood and flame. With the steady stride of a predator, it prowled closer, peering curiously into the bushes with a sonorous growl indicating part suspicion and part curiosity.
Cedric nodded to Ade, making a quick motion at his neck with his blade to (hopefully) indicate a silent kill by a blow to the throat. He'd cover for her if necessary, but wouldn't strike until after she did, as an insurance blow.

"Really? Hmm. Most curious."Nope. Yep. He remembers. She didn't comment any further. Surely he was trying to be a gentleman, dancing around the topic of her intoxication. Why did she let herself go like that? Especially in front of a Vetr. And he bought all of it! Ugh! Let's not think."Honestly hopping looks like more of a liability than anything in this particular neck of the woods. We might as well descend here."Oh hell yes!She drowned in a wave of relief, watching him trickle down the rope and alight softly on ground below. She followed his example to her best ability. She did, in fact, have some amount of experience with rope. It wasn't particularly extensive, but it existed nevertheless. She snatched the roping and wreathed around the rough fibers. How far was it, a few meters? Shouldn't be too bad. She descended at a significantly slower pace, but reached the bottom all the same. She kept to the rim of the glade, tucking beneath a bush and positioning herself slightly further from Cedric. Surely enough, a behemoth crawled into their line of sight. Or, well... She cast a concealed glance towards Cedric, who had realigned himself. He quietly motioned for her to do the same, to which she obliged. An object plummeted from the sky, skipping on the Pryropan's skull as its curiosity piqued. It seemed mildly suspicious... perhaps disgruntled? Whatever the case, Cedric seemed to want her to attack. She withdrew her sword as silently as possible. The blade removed from the sheathe with a reticent hiss; she flinched, although the behemoth took no note of the noise. Good. In all honesty, she would have preferred to use her axes. Oh, how wonderful it would be to chop up the little lizard! Their bloodcurdling screams functioned as music to her sadistic ears. She was under the impression that Cedric wanted a quick, clean, and hopefully silent kill. She sighed slightly, the Pryopan having bent over to properly examine its surroundings. She had perhaps a few seconds before it would catch sight of her conspicuous head of hair. She plowed past the brambles, her sword at hand. The poor beast was utterly surprised, and rather displeased with the sudden spurt. How rude! She slid just under the behemoth's throat. She lunged forward in an instant, boosting herself upwards and impaling the creature's neck in but a few moment's time. She dragged the metal through its skin, severing any necessary arteries in the process. The blood pooled behind her in a fine stream. A shower of scarlet! A waterfall of woe. Whatever. She pulled beside Cedric, the body contacting the ground in one loud tremor. "Is it in my hair? Feels like it is." Cedric flinched at the sound of the behemoth hitting the ground.
Uff. Noise. He hated noise on his missions--unless he was hunting humans. They knew fear as their watchmen toppled one by one, with nothing but a whisper. There were few who didn't like that sort of domination.
But that had only happened once, and the psychological repercussions were... dangerous.
Ade, however, had indeed struck true. Nevertheless, he stabbed his blade downward, striking in between the ribs to pierce its heart. Double checking never hurt anyone, especially in a night ground mission.
"Is it in my hair? Feels like it is."
He yanked out the sword, stepping closer and peering around her to try and locate any of the monster's blood.
She smells unreasonably good.
Shut up, self.
There appeared to be a bit of the dark fluid shining in the moonlight.
"There's a bit," he responded. "Not much. A quick dip will get it out. Time for that later."
He pulled away, trying his hardest to ignore the fact that the last time they were that close, she'd been drunk and kissed him. He did not particularly need that on his mind right now.
Instead, he pushed his brief wave of awkwardness to the back of his head and continued on. He still had the cover of some other person that he was attempting to hook up with, after all. He was completely fine. There was no reason to panic, whatsoever. In fact, that same excuse would give him the ability to stay in contact with Ade outside of these missions.
Speaking of...
Cedric began to slip off, quietly creeping throughout the underbrush. Occasionally, he poked his head up, throwing wary glances around.
The pyropan's mate did not appear to have noticed yet. Thank goodness we're not hunting a bunch of kanpolu or carvarans.
At last, they were beside the maw of the cave. No light was inside--slightly worrying to the Vetr. Ade, however, would be unaffected.
He pressed himself against the rock wall, shrouded still by the undergrowth.
"Ade, any way you can see inside? If you move slowly enough, I can cloak you."
He had to have a direct ability to track her body while she moved. For himself and his drake, that was easy. However, a human was much more difficult--legs and arms weren't so easy to keep tabs on.

Ade watched as the man punctured the deceased being's breast, ensuring its complete and total demise. Silly, really. She rarely, if ever, left her victims with a beating heart. Its aura was as dim as a burnt-out wick. A flicker of fire, carried off by an unexpected breeze. It clung to the faint traces of life it possessed, although they were filtering out of the corpse as the seconds drew on. That stab certainly helped speed up the process. She watched Cedric's mild annoyance disperse after her inquiry, obviously having been less keen on the noisy- Oh hey there."There's a bit. Not much. A quick dip will get it out. Time for that later."She had certainly not expected him to get so close to answer her question. Getting a little friendly, are we? Heh. She really didn't mind. After all, his hair still smelt yummy. "Eh, okay." The Vetr slunk away from the woman, seeming somewhat flustered by his actions. Not entirely, of course; he remained dignified for the most part. She just like to pick out the dirty details. She shadowed Cedric as they moved towards the cave, resting at the rim before continuing any further. She didn't question him. Honestly, she had little to no idea what she was doing. She trusted his better judgement. He spoke up once they were situated on the outside. "Ade, any way you can see inside? If you move slowly enough, I can cloak you."Oh, riiighht. Night time. You can't see. Ha."Sure. How far d'ya want me to go?"She wasn't one for waiting up. She'd probably delve far too deep into the realm, not consulting anyone of her whereabouts. No that's dumb let's be good and follow orders or whatever. The Iduneus, not giving Cedric any apparent indicator, slipped into the cavern. "Just tell me when," She murmured, proceeding into the depths with a noticeably higher state of vigilance than before. It was somewhat exciting! She rarely did any cave-esque expeditions, which was quite the shame. She'd have been excellent in them! Maybe. She didn't know. Her pace lessened slightly, allowing Cedric preform whatever function he had mentioned earlier. What was it? That one shadowy thing. She didn't believe that she needed any magical cushion, but it may prove its usefulness in the future. After all, they didn't know just what they'd be dealing with. Hopefully a few of the eggs were unhatched. Well, not "hopefully". But yeah hopefully.Tags: Cedric Vyrrson Inspiration: Notes: IM SORRY THIS IS SHITTY BUT I WANT TO SLEEP SOON Table made by Opal.

"Sure. How far d'ya want me to go?"
"Well... how about we go until we find a large, live behemoth. I'll follow behind you, but since I can't really see and you can, you'll have to do a lot of the guiding."
He quickly constructed the cloak. It was a little messier than his usual work, and thus would appear as a bit more blobby and less sleek than it could have, but for a first time on someone he'd prefer to give himself a margin of error.
However, with this cloak up, he'd have to hang onto something so that he could see her. He could feel the latent magical energies, of course, but... some things were easier than others.
The Vetr quickly grabbed onto her tunic's sleeve before she began her way into the cave.
"Just tell me when."
She was proceeding slowly enough, which was good for his own blindness. He really needed to enchant his glasses with night vision.
"Stay close to the wall," he hissed. "The cloak's up. Just whenever you see the behemoth. And tell me if you have any idea about live babies or not."
Now that they were in the lair of the beast, he barely had any sight. Brilliant move, Cedric. You're enchanting your glasses as soon as you're back on the Drakonborg, whether in one piece or not.
The Vetr instead chose to focus on not tripping and keeping himself as quiet as possible. He supposed it was their first true trust exercise--Cedric entirely blind and pretty much at her mercy.
Not that he minded spontaneity, he was currently leaning on the side of preferring to be cautious and measured in their approach.
