Vilkas Fallonkreath . the headstrong
Full Name: Vilkas Fallonkreath
Nickname: 'The Headstrong', Vilk
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Eye Colour: Deep brown
Bloodline: Armfastrung
Animal forms: Horse. The family animal is usually either an eagle or an equine which explains why both him and Athie both have these forms, although Vilkas’ differs greatly from his littlest brother’s horse state. Vilkas basically takes a form of a large Fresian/Shire mix, whereas Athie is more of an ickle wickle pony. Nickname: 'The Headstrong', Vilk
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Eye Colour: Deep brown
Bloodline: Armfastrung
Magic Type: Red Giant
Clan: Armfastrung 4 lyfe
Rank: Warrior
Orientation: anything that moves (there's a theme developing with my characters here urm). Although actually bisexual, he tries to maintain the stereotypical manly man facade and plays up that he's straight. When in reality, he's a total flirt and will totally do anyone regardless of their genitals.
Relationship status: single and ready to mingle
Description:
Vilkas is the complete opposite of his littlest brother. Whereas Athuraadd is small and slight, Vilkas towers over him at 6” and could practically over-power Athie with a pinkie finger. He resembles the typical male Fallonkreath identity; tall, broad, hefty in stature and firm in countenance. As such, the standard family gene ensures able bodied sons built for battle; strong backs to carry weight, thick arms to hold the heaviest of axes and muscled legs for stamina rather than speed. While poor Athie falls short on all these qualities, Vilkas and his seven other brothers match the Fallonkreath stock perfectly, although some outdo others on certain traits.
While Athie is fair (and it’s easy to describe Vilkas if you compare him to his youngest sibling), his older brother pertains much more shaded features; a richly dark shade of brown colours his hair, which is left at a reasonably long length, often messy and scraggly. If called for formal occasions or large social gatherings where an actual effort in one’s physical appearance is required, he’ll often braid (MANLY BRAIDS) a strand of hair that falls close to his face, tying the bottom with a green ribbon, as the family colour is as such.
As already hinted, Vilkas doesn’t adopt the ‘clean-shaven’ ways of the primly cut gentleman. Rather, he embraces his heritage warmly and retains that identifiable, rugged Viking look. His face is coated in heavy stubble; his chin, the skin around his mouth and the edges of his thick jaw covered in dark bristles. A handful of his other brothers carry beards, and while Vilkas has debated the possibility of growing one, keeps his facial hair somewhat trimmed for now.
The clothes he wears are nothing flashy, rather the typical attire of the clan, for example- the belt he wears is adorned with the image of a spread eagle on the silver buckle. His outfits are usually made from leather or thick fabric, including wools and furs in the colder months. He is usually caught wearing dark leather gloves over his large hands, and heavy-set leather boots to match. It is common tradition within the Fallonkreath family (and has been for countless generations) to wear the fur of animals heralded as mascots by the other clans, as a sign of dominance and as a mark of insult. While more pacifist members of the family (Athie included) choose not to stir up such petty rivalries, relatives such as Vilkas (and most of the male side of the bloodline for that fact) are all about clan nobility and pride in one’s heritage. As such, Vilkas outfits are adorned with such accessories; his boots are lined with the thick, grey fur of a wolf, his gloves made from the black hide of a polar bear and are fashioned with the white pelt of a lion around the rims. As of yet, he hasn’t obtained any items of fashion relating to ravens, but there’s still time, right?
Because clan patriotism is a notable trait within the Fallonkreath family (as they are usually regarded as one of the most influential families within the clan), children of this bloodline will take it upon themselves to wear the mark of the eagle. Vilkas is no exception, wearing a thick-string necklace with a couple of tawny feathers as emblems about his thick neck, making sure the trinket is worn higher than all other items made from an animal, especially those crafted from the skin of other clan animals. A common mark of respect and superiority within the family.
Vilkas’ favourite weapon is his double-sided battle axe, lovingly dubbed ‘Maltida’. The stem of the instrument is made from thick, weather-hardened oak with iron nubs running up the length of it for added weight. The handle is crafted out of professionally smithed steel with a sharp point at the bottom, embodied with an intricate vine-like pattern. The blades of weapon, both impressive and deadly, are kept regularly sharpened. One side of the blade is embellished the emblem of a proud eagle, the other, a rearing horse. Perhaps both a little ironic, as the axe is certainly not the swiftest swinging weapon. Rather, the animals are crafted within the steel for more symbolic reasons.
Vilkas hardly ever goes anywhere without this treasured possession, and can usually be seen happily carrying it on his back, despite its sheer weight and size.
Personality:
As his nickname indicates, Vilkas is known for his stubborn nature and unfaltering determination, which –if you knew him- isn’t always the best trait. He rarely listens to any other judgment with agreeable ears but his own, and will hardly listen to reason once he’s set his eyes on a particular path. If one tries to counter his opinion with an alternative perspective, Vilkas will often find himself in varying levels of agitation, depending on who the other person is. He hates to hear that he is incorrect or has performed something with an ill outcome, and can often grow quite angry as a result. Although it is worth noting that this particular rage is more akin to a pouting child than a fearsome Viking warrior, as much as Vilkas would like to believe otherwise.
The Fallonkreath boys are usually noted for their liking for mischief and their playful demeanors. Vilkas is no exception. Rather hedonistic in nature, he is a great undertaker of acts that bring either great pleasure to himself or to others, and as such is a regular patron to the beer halls of his clan and indeed, of extensive merrymaking in general.
Vilkas is usually taken to be the Casanova out of his band of brothers; his natural charisma and endless bouts of confidence making him seemingly very appealing, which is fortunate for Vilkas’ more primal tendencies…hedonistic, remember? The downside however is that he knows he can be rather charming, so his confidence often borders on cockiness and sometimes even arrogance. He’s a bit of a show off, not just with his ability to bed people, but also in terms of his fighting prowess, much to the annoyance of his brothers. He takes after his father in being an extremely proud individual; confident in his abilities and eager to demonstrate his talent.
Spontaneous in his decision making, Vilkas doesn’t like to dawdle and has a habit of rushing in without properly assessing the situation. He has a tendency to speak his mind with brutal honesty (unless he’s trying to get his own way) and often doesn’t think about the repercussions. His bloodline gives him a sense of entitlement that often shadows his best judgment, giving him a false sense that he is capable of no wrong-doing. For this, he can be rude, prideful to a fault and intolerant of anyone else who doesn't follow his line of thinking, requiring someone with a lot of patience to help him see a more clearer perspective.
Like a typical Viking, Vilkas loves a good brawl - after all, what better way to show off his skills? Whether in a drunken punch-up, a wrestling match with his brothers or a serious conflict on the battlefield, Vilkas proves himself to be an extremely competent fighter, even if his techniques rely more on sheer, brute force rather than intelligence.
Despite his flaws however, Vilkas paves his path in life with unbridled determination and strict focus. Of course, this is only if he has a goal or a task to undertake, otherwise he regresses back into his usual fun-loving ways. But this is not a problem, at least not for him, as Vilkas has an unmatched ability to snap into a serious frame of mind if the situation calls for it, which is probably down to the fierce disciplined training he received in his younger years. When so, he is usually much quieter and more withdrawn, perhaps even quite grave, but it is then that his steadfast nature comes into play, rightly earning him his nickname.
Having been raised on the ideals of comradeship and the importance of clan principles, Vilkas –like his brothers- is found to be extremely noble at heart and very apt to adopt the traditional warrior code of life like his ancestors before him. He is brave, loyal and compassionate, as all the Fallonkreath sons have been strictly taught do so – Athie maybe not so much on the ‘brave’ front. But like his youngest brother, making a friend in Vilkas gives one a friend for life, and a trust in someone who takes the well-being of his close allies very, very seriously. He is a trustworthy individual to have around, as well as a valuable asset in battle.
History:
As the third youngest son out of nine, Vilkas was always faced with the challenge of trying not to blend in with the veritable sea of already indistinguishable faces. Vilkas never had the urge to mix in; being unique made him shine out. So he proved himself by taking on the role of the class-clown within the group, often assuming the part of ring-leader when some of the younger sons went off to cause mischief. And he did so well, often getting into trouble with his parents and –on numerous occasions- the elders of the clan. But Vilkas always took their scolding on the chin and quickly became known as the trouble-maker within the group, much to his joy. He was a cheeky lad, who often found that his charming words could worm him out of any less-than-desirable predicaments.
When he reached the age of sixteen, his parents were keen to curb his unruly behaviour, and he was quickly pushed into the firm hands of a clan mentor, one of the most senior warriors known as Ulfard, a close friend of his father. Like Vilkas’ father, Ulfard was a noble and proud man, under whose strict training Vilkas was fashioned into a highly capable and skilled warrior. He became significantly more subdued in his difficult behaviour and took on a much more stoic countenance. But from time to time, he still allows his more childish nature to seep through (but only when his father isn’t looking).
While he likes to be an individual, Vilkas was still keen to band with his brothers and become a notable driving force within the Armfastrung warrior ranks. He was a key asset within their select team; his axe-wielding skills only just outmatched by his older brother Gunnard, who had trained his whole life as blacksmith specialising in such weapons. He was also good for morale; his enthusiasm and passion in battle was often contagious and he regularly boosted the spirit of his brothers.
At the moment, he remains with Armfastrung, and loyally goes wherever the clan goes. However, he still retains a sense of free-spirit and independance, and regularly takes solo trips away from his home to stop himself from getting restless. As of yet, he still hasn't seen Athie since the younger left the clan to go traveling.
