The distress message about the rogue Chorata had signaled earlier that day and Thorulf had been lumbered with the bothersome task first thing. Sometimes it was a curse to be awake at so early an hour in the morning but the Pryfektus was adamant that a strict adhering to a routine was vital for an efficient professional, such as himself, naturally. True enough, when one of his superiors had sought him out to task him with the responsibility, Thorulf was already washed, dressed and saddling Talon with the intention of taking the drake out for an early morning flight practice, but unfortunately fate had other plans. Still, Thorulf couldn't complain; the flight to the Bjornung fleet could technically count as practice regardless.
The air was humid that morning, and Thorulf could tell it was going to be a warm day, but he'd chosen to wear his usual Drakonrhedi uniform regardless, opting rather for the more smart qualities this particular outfit boasted as opposed to the noticeably more...casual look of the summer gear. Thorulf was all about the professional appearances, even if he had to physically suffer for it. It was worth noting however that Thorulf wasn't a vain individual, he was just fully aware that the Drakonrhedi had a reputation to keep up, especially when visiting the clan fleets. And especially when this particular fleet just happened to be his old stomping ground.
Talon swooped over a puff of cloud with a loud screech, and suddenly the familiar airships came into view.
Thorulf heaved a nostalgic sigh, although the sound of it was blurred as they hurtled through the air. In truth, Thorulf hadn't visited for quite a few years now, not out of any bad feelings, but merely because he simply had no reason to; both his parents had passed away and he knew little of what became of the rest of the family, or the friends that he'd grown up with. Despite this, it was a strangely welcoming sight, and Thorulf inwardly prayed that the reported Chorata (although he couldn't see any sign of the beast now) hadn't caused too much chaos.
During their flight, Thorulf had made sure Talon was sweeping the sky with extra caution, which was easier said than done because of the drake's sheer size (he was slightly bigger than most) and his tendency to be rather vocal. There was no doubt that the sight of the muscled, black beast hurtling streamline through the air was a formidable one, and Thorulf could recall copious times when the mere sight of Talon could startle human opponents into submission, but Behemoths were immune to such intimidation, hence why Thorulf was on high alert at the present time, eyes scouring around them for any signs of the winged foe.
They came to land on the largest airship, Ferocity, the sharpened claws and heavy paws of Talon landing with an impressive thud. The deck of the ship was noticeably...lacking in activity, but Thorulf assumed it to be because just the mere mention of a Behemoth was enough to scare people into their homes, and quite rightly to. Still, as they touched down, a group of Bjornung warriors came to greet the pair. The presumed leader of the group, a rather hefty built fellow adorned in bear hide, stepped forward.
"You're the Drakonrhedi Slayer?" he asked gruffly, eyebrow raising as he surveyed the duo.
Thorulf confirmed that he was. The man nodded.
"The beast has gone now. Mercifully, it didn't take anyone when it left -thank the gods- but we don't know if it's still skulking around somewhere. We'd appreciate it if you could maybe stick around a while, just in case."
"Of course. It's advisable that people stay below deck until I'm certain the crisis has passed. Can I count on an appointed few to see to that?"
"We can't ground the entire ship to a halt-"
"Understood."
"-but we can certainly assure that everyone who has no business being on deck stays clear."
Thorulf gave a brisk nod, giving Talon a slight tug on the reins to keep the beast focused (sometimes he had a habit of drifting away), "Thank you. I'll signal if anything is amiss."
The men voiced a brief round of appreciation, before carrying on their duty.
Talon was giving off light warbles, body bouncing slightly to indicate his excitement. Behemoths didn't phase the creature, not really. True he wasn't as bloodthirsty as some of his fellow drakes, but he did have a lot of pent up energy, and a good assault was always an effective means of subduing said energy. Besides, both rider and drake were more than capable of handling themselves against one Chorata, as the vast years of experience would tell. Giving Talon several gentle pats on his flank to show that he was flowing on the drake's wavelength, Thorulf rested his other hand on lap, allowing the reins to hang loose and lax, giving Talon a bit more freedom to potter about if he so wished.
