Description:
Kerberos is a terrible beast. Black scales cover its body, but reflect no light, not even a shimmer. Jagged teeth protrude directly from its jaws; no gums at all are present, though most would not wish to be close enough to find that out. Added to this, its jaw is designed in a beak-like, bird of prey fashion, made to rip and tear even without the added benefit of teeth. Wide eyes stare out from above that gaping maw, glowing an eerily pure white for the beast that bears them. Beyond that, stiff fur extends along the back of the beast’s skull, trailling down its spine to just past the base of the tail. The fur on the skull is attached to ear-like extensions, and will move according to cat or dog behaviour patterns.
Its most assumed human form, a young man by the name of Stigandr Gudrunsson, is comparatively less frightening. While short for a man, Stigandr would be tall for a woman, and as such is stuck rather plainly in the middle of the two heights. Dark hair curls about his face, which is usually cracked in a playful smile. Stig is lean and his sharp features might be called attractive by some, but certainly not by those prefering a beefier warrior.
The only hint of his rather unstable nature, aside from his excitability, are his eyes. The irises are the blackest of blacks, taking in light and giving none. Were to someone shine a lantern in his face, even his pupils would not reflect it. He also doesn’t blink all that often, but whatcha gonna do?
As Stigandr, he has access to the Drakonrhedi as an Iduneus. He wears a light armour set designed for both protection and mobility, should it come to that. But Stig? He prefers to keep unseen when he can help it. A poisoned dagger lies in his boot, but his real weapon is the composite short bow he keeps tucked in with his quiver.
Aside from his peculiarities, his voice is light and melodious, like someone deigned to sing in a choir in praise of the gods. Any lies he might spread are overlooked, as his tone is silky smooth. Though some might find it uncanny how he moves in silence, without even the clicking of armour.
His animal form is a raven-like corvid, large and imposing. Used mostly for scouting and blending in at the feasting of a dead animal.
Personality:
Normal morality holds no interest for Kerberos. However, logic does not define his motives. A distorted idea of right and wrong drive him, blue and orange instead of black and white. He sees nothing wrong with using others to get his way. Ultimately, Kerberos gets the job done, but that doesn’t mean it was with minimalized pain and death.
Despite this, he can seem a rather normal enough creature. He seems to care for some things, though if they are ruined he does not dwell on it. This does not mean he intentionally destroys those select things. Whatever he cares for is viewed as a toy. And you can’t play with broken toys. Likewise, if he gets bored, the “toy’s” fate can fall into question.
Ultimately, he is unpredictable, but if something coincides with their ulterior motives, they are not above working alongside it. However, if something gets in his way, he is equally not above obliterating it. And if that doesn't work, find a way to manipulate it.
He has an incredible fascination with people. The way they keep fighting, even if they know their future is uncertain. Even when the odds are never in their favour. Seeking what drives them, Kerberos finds once again that his motives coincide with the Infinite. This is something he doesn't seem to mind, though he is not afraid of showing he doesn't necessarily care about the fate of the human race, just what fuels the fire within them.
History:
Time and time again, there have been screams in the dead of space. Yet, in space, no one can hear them.
Kerberos can hear them. Kerberos has heard them since he hatched, at the time of his birth star’s death. They whisper in his ear and he can hear from across the cosmos.
His progenitors sensed the white dwarf’s supernova before it destroyed his body, but the radiation destroyed his mind. Not in the way that it destroyed his intelligence, but in the way that it destroyed his sanity. His mother, Asena, had wanted to see what would happen if a child was born near a star so close to death, but her calculations had been… off.
A path of destruction lies in Kerberos’ wake, much like the remnants of his birth star. His progenitors are lost to the stars, either from the shame of what they brought into the world or from their spawn’s infernal wrath.
The Infinite tend to give him specific parameters, or else he’ll take liberties to make it more “exciting” and “fun”. As a result, he thinks they’re a bunch of party poopers. Still, he is known to be useful in infiltration and annihilation.
Capable of drifting in and out of darkness, he can disappear for years at a time.
Other:
Huginn and Muninn – twin OAIs that serve to mitigate Kerberos’ instability. Huginn serves to ask thought-provoking questions and give insight where Kerberos refuses to give second glances. Muninn reminds him of past experiences of his own and those known of others. Between the both of them, they serve as a consciousness, although anyone attempting to communicate telepathically might find themselves in for a slight shock. The two can be oddly mischievous.
Eydís – Stigandr’s faithful snow drake. She is lithe and perhaps a bit small for her kind, but “though she be but little, she is fierce”.
Zsasilda the Solitary – The older sister of Kerberos, the two don't particularly interact. He doesn't seem to mind nor blame her for this turn of events. Whether he understands the shame she feels for his existence or not is undertermined, but he doesn't appear to hold any harsh feelings for her. Or feelings at all. Regardless, she at best would fall under Kerberos' personal category of "toy". And Kerberos doesn't break toys.
