He was blonde-haired and tan, as if he'd been working on the airships too much in the recent burst of good weather. However, that seemed about to be gone: the sky was overcast, covered in a blanket of grey clouds that heralded rain.
Either way, it was hot out, which justified his clothing: a pair of mechanic's pants (as his [supposed] profession required) and a sleeveless canvas vest that had been unbuttoned to reveal well-toned muscles. Mostly because despite his appearance, this man spent most of his time training to be one of the top warriors on the planet. And he rarely, if ever, showed off the results, so he was allowed a little bit of boasting.
Of course, it wasn't like the one person he wanted to see them would be able to.
Speaking of, where was she? She was supposed to meet him around here sometime. She was his partner, after all, and they had a mission to complete, no matter how much he happened to be enamored with his wishful thinking.
He really ought to be better by now. He was a Vetr, after all. With a sigh, he leaned back onto the crate behind him, folding his hands and placing them behind his head, which did quite the opposite of hiding his chest, causing the vest to fall away.
Ade, please... we have a gang to shut down.
He'd heard through his sources that one of the largest gangs in the city was planning to use a riot as a cover to assassinate a political figure they happened to not like. Of course, the Drakonrhedi couldn't let that happen, and that mean that the Vetr of the Stalkers was on the job.
Or, well, he would be, as soon as his damned partner showed up.
A passing young man stopped in front of him. Ced raised an eyebrow questioningly. The man glanced up at him with a grin that the Vetr knew from all his nights at bars amid drunks.
"Well, you're certainly not letting me think straight."
Cedric couldn't help a grin. That was not a bad one--pun and all.
"Thank you, darling, but I'm afraid I'm waiting for someone very important. If you wait a little longer, though..."
The man laughed. He did not seem overly intent on this prize, instead simply a passing comment, and Ced was fine with that, sharing in the laughter. With a wink, the man strode off.
What if Ade saw that?
He paused. It would be just his luck, after all.
Then she'll be able to see that I was not serious. Even Ade wasn't that stupid.

Ade moved through the populous streets of Midgardborg, her patience deteriorating with every passing second. Here she was - some poor soul's life threatened by another self-centered, arrogant street scum. The Drakonrhedi typically had no control over these petulant gangs, but there was some flexibility when they knew their twisted motives beforehand. An assassination, as usual. An assassination that she was late for, she might add. Now she had never seen an actual glacier. For the sake of argument, however, she'd seen those metaphorical glaciers move faster than the morons in front of her. Honestly, what were they doing? Gaping at some ridiculous street performance? She let loose a loud scoff, her brows knitted tightly together. And she had to wear this stupid fedora! Honestly, she couldn't have picked a more uncomfortable thing to put on her head. Cedric had suggested that she wear a disguise. Of course, she wasn't sure of what his supposed "disguise" consisted of. As per usual, she showed up to the streets empty-handed and snatched a few necessities along the way. And as much as she would like to believe that the hat was highly unnecessary, her hair was probably one of the more flamboyant attributes she carried. So here she was, her eccentric head of hair compacted into one messy bun, the black hat shielding the remainder. It was still blue, of course - there was no way she could physically hide it all. It was just a little.... Less blue. AND HER BLINDFOLD! Ooh, the horror!! She knew that she couldn't appear any different if she still had that beautiful slip of fabric on her face. She had to lose one of the most defining traits about her. May as well revoke the rest of her clothes! She decided to keep her peacoat on, nevertheless, despite the fairly hot temperature. And the heat of the crowd certainly wasn't helping anyone! Ok. That's it. She was done being cockblocked by these assholes. She needed to find an alternate route. And by alternate route, she meant pleasedontfuckingsteponme. Ade slid in a nearby alley, initiating her snake-self as she slipped back into the swarm of people. Only a few had taken notice of her presence, their horrified gasps muffled by the noise of the crowd. It took perhaps 5 minutes of swiftly slithering over their shoes for her to gravitate towards a more vacated area. Finally! She made some progress. Now Cedric should be around here somewhere... "Well, you're certainly not letting me think straight."That's cool, but she was looking for Ce- "Thank you, darling, but I'm afraid I'm waiting for someone very important. If you wait a little longer, though..." Bingo. Target sighted. But who the ever-living fuck was he talking to? It sounded slightly flirtatious. Well, not Ced's remark, but the first guy... There was a series of laughter, followed by the departure of a man. Ugh! Why couldn't she see auras in this stupid thing! She'd know just which nerve to strike if he came ove- here he comes! The man walked past her with a slight skip in his step. Ade breathed out an audible hiss. "Do you have a death wish." The man glanced around in confusion, Ade taking the opportunity to move towards Cedric. She certainly wasn't in the mood for any... Any... Whoa.He definitely... Made a disguise. That was a disguise. Better than her disguise. Abdominals. Please focus. Ade swallowed a bit of saliva, saying, "Nice absguise. A disguise. Nice." Very fucking articulate! She inhaled lightly, attempting to recuperate. Her timing was impeccable to create the most awkward situation possible for the both of them, a skill she appeared to have only for their particular relationship.
"Nice absguise. A disguise. Nice."
He frowned. "Are you alright?" It wasn't like her to stutter. At all. Of course, he couldn't actually see her. Glancing about, he eventually spotted the snake, brightening visibly at her appearance and giving her a wave. Sitting up more, he bent over to offer his hand to her, in case she didn't feel like shapeshifting just yet.
Wait, if she's in snake form... that means she's not blind.
Cedric paused for a moment, then a grin pulled up one corner of his mouth. He might even be a little pleased with himself in this regard. Was she flustered by how much skin he was showing? Hmm. Food for thought. "Thanks, by the way. Just a little illusion over my face and a change of clothing, that's all." The abs are real. Of course, she should know that--Drakonrhedi were known to be muscled. They had to be.
"Sorry for being late. Got stuck in... Traffic."
He shrugged. "That's alright. I'm just here being hit on. Sometimes it's nice, you know, if it's not that creepy. Gives you a little ego boost that I appreciate before a mission." It was almost but not quite a pointed comment towards her own snarky behavior to him. but ade gives boosts to other things ;3
Either way, they had a mission to complete.
"You'll have to shapeshift in and out for this mission," he explained once she was either curled around his arm or in human form. "Although it might be easier in human form. We'll be infiltrating a gang, after all, and going places one might not expect a snake or a cat to exactly be."
He was hoping the info was wrong and everything was alright. But in the case that it wasn't, he'd have to steal the plans (or copy them to memory) and set up a way to foil them.
And Ade'd be along to watch his back.
"Let's get going, then." He stood and stretched, taking a moment to scan the crowds. No one was paying them much attention, so with a nonchalant bearing, he sauntered off into the alleyway behind him.
It wouldn't be long until they hit the gang's territory, though. As soon as one was off the main thoroughfares, one could never be sure of where and when the next patrol was.
He'd plotted out a route that skirted along the outside of the territory until he figured out if it was a good day or a heist or not, and then dove in at what he knew to be their weakest surveillance area. If fortune was good, they'd be in and out swiftly, reentering the crowds and blending in.
One could never predict the unpredictable, though.

"Are you alright?"Ade moved towards Cedric's outstretched hand, he obviously having taken her strange demeanor into attention. Dammit! Honestly, couldn't she be discrete just once? She muttered lightly to herself as she snaked up his arm, finding a comfortable area on his shoulder. She could always retain her human form, but... Well, then she'd be missing out on the show! Haha oh shut up. Besides, his hair still smelt nice. Even if it didn't happen to be blue. "Thanks, by the way. Just a little illusion over my face and a change of clothing, that's all.""Oh," She said, blinking. "Just your face, then? That's... interesting." His tone seemed highly amused. The jig was up. Not that she had done a very good job in withholding said jig. Great, now he could tease her with his surprisingly toned muscles. Not... not that she had expected them to be scrawny. In all honesty, she probably should have seen this one coming. STILL! Teasing him was her job! This was simply unacceptable. "That's alright. I'm just here being hit on. Sometimes it's nice, you know, if it's not that creepy. Gives you a little ego boost that I appreciate before a mission."Oh fuck. Did he think she was hitting on him? She wasn't even being flirtatious! Or was she? To be quite frank, she could have said probably anything at that moment without fully acknowledging it. No... wait! It wasn't her. It was that guy, remember? The one with the death wish. Obviously. She was the one who threatened him in the first place. Haha, phew. She didn't want Cedric to think she was flirting. That was preposterous! "Were you now?" Her mild embarrassment was evident in her voice, which she mentally scolded herself for. "Sounds like a fun time." "You'll have to shapeshift in and out for this mission, although it might be easier in human form. We'll be infiltrating a gang, after all, and going places one might not expect a snake or a cat to exactly be."Ade shrugged. Well, not exactly, given the lack of her limbs. Not entirely possible. Instead, she inwardly shrugged. "Eh, I think I'll cross that bridge when I get to it." "Let's get going, then."
She nodded, allowing the supposed mechanic to transverse into the streets of Midgardborg. She trusted that he knew where he was going; she was just a co-pilot with no sense of direction. "Lead the way, my steed!"

"Just your face, then? That's... interesting."
He chuckled and gave a small shrug. What could he do? Goodness, what a weird concept. Cedric could actually possibly be attractive? Weird. A novel idea, surely. One that he had not encountered previously. Sometimes he wondered if his idea to be constantly underestimated was a good one, but in the end it had been a well-calculated choice. It kept him safe, and those that bothered to get to know him managed to figure out that he was actually rather competent.
Ade was just beginning to scratch the surface, it seemed.
"Were you now? Sounds like a fun time."
"I would've preferred someone else hit on me, but I don't mind people finding me attractive."
The words leaped out of his mouth before he could really ponder their meaning. Did he just insinuate that he liked someone specific? Ooops. Whatever, she'd probably guessed it from some of the other things that he'd said to her. She wasn't stupid, and he had been hinting for a while at the fact. It wasn't like she actually liked him or anything, so why bother? She was just confused briefly that the ever-bumbling Cedric might actually be worth something.
"Eh, I think I'll cross that bridge when I get to it."
To be honest, he didn't really mind. He'd just have to show off while she was in this form. Then she'd have no choice but to deal. She couldn't see his emotions in this state, either. It gave him a sort of freedom that he hadn't experienced--obviously those who were courting anyone but an Aura Reader enjoyed this sort of freedom all the time. He'd been forced to be more careful, and still managed to slip up. The lucky bastards who didn't have to deal with someone seeing their affections and awkwardness constantly. He was jealous.
Silly little Ade, making him fall so hard.
She was curled up comfortably on his shoulder. "Hang on tight, then. I might hop a few roofs, if circumstances require."
"Lead the way, my steed!"
He slipped into another alleyway, peeking out and quickly diving backwards to avoid the notice of a patrol. Pressing himself into a shadowy alcove, he waited for the patrol to pass before carefully stepping out and checking once more before darting into that street.
No need to tempt fate...
No, of course not. He was an expert at this game.
He verily danced through the alleyways, knowing them like the back of his hand. At last, he arrived at his destination: a small dead-end alleyway on the outer skirts of the gang's territory, from which he could easily access the roofs he'd need to run to the territory's heart.
"I think this is going to be where you need to shift out," he whispered to her. "I'll need backup from this point onward. Unfortunately, it'll involve jumping from roof to roof. Fortunately, it might involve fighting someone."
He stopped and knelt, extending an arm so that it was easy for her to climb down.
"We'll need to check of there are any patrols coming, too."

"I would've preferred someone else hit on me, but I don't mind people finding me attractive."Oh, so he wasn't satisfied with her hitting on him? That was great. Maybe if he wasn't just so fucki- ...Wait. No, that other guy hit on him. Remember? You just choked. You did not hit on him. Stop making literally everything about you, okay? She opened her mouth for some sort of retort, but she closed it after ultimately deciding that any response of her behalf would lead to her further frustrating herself. "Hang on tight, then. I might hop a few roofs, if circumstances require.""Sounds like a plan, man."It was no secret that Ade wasn't a fan of heights. Not in her typical state, that was. Her snake form was slightly more lenient, with a more... defined depth perception. Besides, it wasn't like she actually had to do anything. Enjoying the show, remember? Cedric expertly weaved through the crowd and alleyways, finally finding himself at the outskirts of a particularly shady region. He narrowly avoided an oncoming patrol - easy mistake, although she might have been able to offer a little hindsight if she wasn't lounging on his shoulder. "I think this is going to be where you need to shift out.Aw, but the show just begun!"I'll need backup from this point onward. Unfortunately, it'll involve jumping from roof to roof. Fortunately, it might involve fighting someone."Fuck me.Just when she thought she had weaseled her way out of running those god-forsaken hurdles. Tripping, in this case, would result in a more permanent destination. At least we get to hit someone afterwards.
"An eye for an eye, I guess." She slipped off his shoulder, sliding off his arm and onto the ground. She caught a quick glance at his still-visible muscles before shifting into her human self. "We'll need to check of there are any patrols coming, too.""Yeah, yeah," Ade said, waving him off. The probability of another patrol coming seemed highly unlikely, especially given the recent one that they had just evaded. Really, sometimes you just had to make these asu- Oh you just had to go and fucking jinx it.
Needless to say, a patrol was stationed just adjacent to them. It had probably been approaching for some time now... something she would've seen if she wasn't busy reveling in the mysterious forces of a toned man. Miraculously, the group had not yet revealed their position. However, that would all change in the matter of seconds. They were a patrol, after all. And it wasn't difficult to view these two imbeciles. Ade quickly slunk beside the Vetr, pressing herself against the wall to avoid any premature sightings. "Cedric," She breathed, keeping her voice as low as possible. Time was, in fact, precious. There was none of it to use, let alone waste. "Right there. Patrol." She gulped slightly, her eyes darting back and forth. "I... don't see an escape route? Nothing doable, at least."
Fuck. They were going to be spotted before their mission had even started, and it was all because of her stupid decision to gape at abs.

"Sounds like a plan, man."
Ced was glad she was able to admit to not liking heights, at least. It made things a lot easier if he didn't have to deal with ego and whatnot, and instead just work with getting from point A to point B. He could go faster than Ade could at this rate, too, and not having to hold her or catch her was a relief. At least until they got deeper into territory, where he'd need another person fighting beside him.
"An eye for an eye, I guess."
"Aye." He grinned. That was practically a pun, with how it was pronounced and... never mind.
He waited while she transformed, trying to figure out how the heck they were going to get onto the roof here. There was a dumpster and a windowsill, so if they got a little bit of run, then leaped up and bounced off onto the windowsill, they could catch the rim of the roof and pull up from there. Not a bad plan, all in all. Better than he expected to have come up with on the spot.
"Cedric."
The Vetr turned, finding Ade alarmed and pressed up against the wall.
"Right there. Patrol."
Well shit.
"I... don't see an escape route? Nothing doable, at least."
You're doable. He nearly slapped himself. Cedric, no--wait. All we need to do is have an excuse and hide our faces.
It wasn't the first time the links between words had gotten him out of a tricky spot. Linguistics was a weird talent to have, but he used it damn well if he could.
Oh, and she was already against the wall. Perfect. The word was thought almost with sarcasm. He was being forced to do something completely out of his own comfort zone and without asking her consent first, all because of those stupid gangsters.
And he was going to enjoy it, dammit.
He could hear the crunching of the patrol. And without further ado...
He'd been trained in stage kissing, but wasn't inclined to pull a fake one. Real actors weren't afraid of making out for the job, after all.
Stepping up to her, he placed his hands on her hips, pinning her against the wall, and then bent down...
And kissed her on the lips.

"Aye."Ade half-smirked, mildly amused by the pun. Sense of humor: still intact. But this isn't the time for that! The patrol's disregard was coming to an end, finally having gained enough sentience to raise suspicion. A man had murmured something to the ones around him, their attention gradually merging towards the now apparent people in the alley. It was an odd sight, really. Some withheld anger, curling their fists at their comrade's proposal. Others seemed... satisfied, almost. Amused, as if they were looking for an excuse like this to come around. Either way, this would get ugly. She redirected her attention towards Cedric, who appeared to be lost in thought. Was he considering his options? She wasn't sure what else he could be doing. The distinct sound of footsteps only amplified her adrenaline. Her hands wrapped into a tight fist, prepared to swing at any given moment. He didn't seem to be saying anything. They were getting closer. They'd be here any second and all he was doing was- MMMPH!A small squeak erupted from her throat, her train of thought entirely derailed as her head was interjected by a tidal wave of emotions. His lips hit her like a bullet. It took a moment to process the event, but her subconscious was right on point. Her hands slowly released themselves from their previously threatening stance, reaching around his neck in an almost casual manner. She leaned into the kiss, keeping her eyes sealed as her mind reeled back into reality. What the absolute FUCK was he doing.
The footsteps had arrived at their destination, her head too bothered to take any immediate action. She heard a faint "What d'ya see?" in the distance, but she was too lost to take note. "Uh..." She peeked at the man, who appeared highly flustered by the scene. Cedric's motives began to clear as the puzzle pieced together. She cracked a small smile. You fucking dog.
Still, it would have to be more convincing if they wanted to shake him completely. Tags: Cedric VyrrsonInspiration: Notes: I HAD NO MUSE BUT THEN IT KINDA CAME BACK SO HERE YOU GO im sorry im bad at writing kissy things Table made by Opal.

Ade reacted remarkably well to someone who hadn't been trained to adapt to the kind of improv spontaneity that Ced had been forced to shove upon her. Poor thing, totally unaccustomed to the Vetr's particular uses for his acting passion.
She gave a small squeak, but not one that would be considered entirely out of character. In fact (subconsciously, he was fairly certain), she reacted positively, leaning into the kiss and clasping her hands behind his neck. It almost seemed natural, and he allowed his hands to slip further into the pose, clasping at the small of her back.
He was inclined to laugh, but couldn't for fear of blowing their tentative disguise. However, he was not above letting a wave of self-satisfaction wash over him, combined with a trickster's glee. The gang's patrol had certainly not been expecting this, now had they?
"What d'ya see?"
A fake-out make-out.
"Uh..."
A quick glance showed him that the man was flustered but uncertain. Still need to be convinced, eh? He could do that, probably.
Ade was smiling: just a small one, but one that showed she understood the purpose of this rather abrupt development in their relationship. He couldn't see it, but he could feel her lips curving alongside his. How oddly pleasant a sensation. Still, the patrol needed to be convinced, so he'd once again be pushing the boundaries of how comfortable the two of them were.
A wicked one-sided smirk curved the sides of his lips that the patrol couldn't see, but Ade would certainly be able to feel it. A bit foreboding, perhaps.
In a spurt of mischievous energy, he leaned in a bit more and, without care and without heeding the possible consequences of his actions, slipped his tongue into Ade's mouth.
The other members of the patrol had come to see what was up just in time for the show.
"...Let's just let them be, eh?"
"Sounds good."
And with that, they moved on. Ced closed his eyes, increasing the illusion while the rest of the patrol passed on. Once they had gone, he pulled away.
He was sadly without remorse. That had been a needed and excellent plan to keep the patrol far from discovering their identities. Their faces had been covered, as had their intentions.
"Sorry," he said quietly and with a grin, glee at his own mischief still clear. "That was all I could think of. Worked pretty well, eh?"
He dare not think of how wonderful that had felt until Ade was far from here.

Ade felt Cedric's finger inch up her back, arching herself as she pushed closer to his chest. Her consciousness was beginning to return to her in segments. The previous shock of the action had been drowned out by its underlying purpose, her rampant emotions attempting (and failing) to realign themselves. It was all for show, of course! She would've done the same thing! Well, probably not.
His lips had curved into a noticeable smirk, a simple delight that she could consciously decipher. The onlooker remained in position. It took every ounce of her willpower to keep her eyes in their sockets. His tongue slipped into her mouth, Ade having to physically suppress a unprepared gasp. She was motionless for perhaps a millisecond before quickly deciding that she'd have to participate . Her tongue danced over his in a symphony of embarrassed compulsion. "...Let's just let them be, eh?" Oh thank god. Their illusion was nearly complete. Her cheeks had been bright red for the entirety of their skit, but it was nothing that the patrol would care for. She could see them taking their leave. Cedric held on for a bit longer before pulling apart, her cheeks not dimming in the slightest. "Sorry. That was all I could think of. Worked pretty well, eh?""Mmhm!" She was afraid that any audible speaking would probably result in an obvious stutter, or some embarrassing comment. Or both. Probably both. Damn! Cedric was hardly swayed by his work! He was certainly more composed than she had been; but, then again, he did initiate the kiss. Fucking still! She cleared her throat, her mind beginning to reorganize itself. "Alright. Anyways. Where were we? Saving that one person?"

Oh goodness.
This was unexpected. Not only was Ade actually going along with the illusion, but she was enhancing it. She was either acting along really well, or... well, she kissed him first. She started it, really. Her fault. He could just blame her for this, right? Of course he could.
As he pulled back, he noticed that she was bright red. Expected, really, given what he'd just done, but that didn't stop his own cheeks from assuming the same cherry hue. A flicker of embarrassment went through him, but he quickly and forcefully squelched it. He was not thinking about the deeper meanings of what had just happened until he was away from Ade! He had done what was necessary to get them out of a very sticky situation, and he had done it well, thank you very much!
Ade only responded with an "Mmhm!" to him. She might need a bit to recover herself: anyone would, really. Even Ced did. He took a moment to take deep breaths, calming himself before some rush of embarrassment drowned him. He'd just kissed a cute girl, yes, and she was very cute (oh, and now she can see your adoration), but it was a fake kiss, it didn't count, don't get excited.
It didn't really work, and he was soon blushing along. Probably not as badly. Well, he hoped not as badly. Who wouldn't be a little sheepish after kissing their crush and the hottest person they knew, though? He was fairly certain she could see his emotions in regards to her, but whatever. She could deal. She'd just stuck her tongue in his mouth, she could deal.
"Alright. Anyways. Where were we? Saving that one person?"
He nodded. "Up this way. I'll need someone watching my back." Backing up slightly, he got a running start and executed his previously planned maneuver, catching the roof and pulling himself onto it before turning and preparing to catch and assist his blind yet beautiful partner.
"Whenever you're ready, darling, then we can be off to save the day."
Are you flirting, Cedric? I don't think that's possible. Or right. You should stop before you break something, like any chance you have with Ade.

Cedric had lighten up with a pang of embarrassment, almost as if her emotions had caused a chain reaction. It didn't come as any surprise; they had just kissed. On top of that, it was a very good kiss, and not one that she had experienced quite before. Not that she had a gauntlet of experiences to choose from, but the sensation had been downright delightful. She wouldn't necessarily admit that to herself - her emotional state of mind was currently at a loss. The entire situation remained to be more or less of a heated blur. Technically he had kissed her. It was all a hoax, of course, so that should mean that he shouldn't be swayed by the act. Or... well, maybe a little, since it served as a big dent in their completely platonic relationship. It didn't... mean anything, right? She certainly shouldn't blow it out of proportion. It wasn't like they were going to get married or anything like that. In fact, she should probably never mention it again! That would be the cool thing to do.Still, she could sense traces of adoration in his aura. Perhaps it was simply because of her overly-convincing performance. Perhaps it was something more? No, don't think that! He already explained himself. It was just some bullshit Hail Mary that happened to work perfectly. Then again, she assumed he didn't test that with every partner in his past. Surely she had to mean something! Besides, most people didn't look at her with his suppressed desire. That isn't desire you nitwit. Adoration and desire are two completely different things. "Up this way. I'll need someone watching my back."Ade shook the thought aside, resolving to reconsider the matter at a different time when her cheeks weren't so red and her mind wasn't as flustered.Cedric had performed some casual stunt onto the rooftop, bouncing off a windowsill and pulling himself up in a relatively smooth manner. It occurred to her that she would have to follow his lead.Well here goes absolutely nothing. "Whenever you're ready, darling, then we can be off to save the day."His use of "darling" did not help lessen the intensity of her cheeks in the slightest. She inhaled deeply, attempting to flick her intrusive thoughts away. Just go now. You can brood all you want when this is over.
She got a running start, making her journey from the dumpster to the windowsill and finally leaping to the rim of the building. It certainly wasn't as graceful as Cedric had been; she wasn't much of an acrobat, as most everyone knew. She landed in Cedric's extended arms. "Nice save," She said, fumbling onto the rooftop. Her struggling was futile, of course. As much as she tried to be relatively smooth about the transition, she still found herself flat on his chest.
Red cheeks? Check. Awkward eye contact? Well, nothing he could see. Do you have to pause like that? Can't you just fucking roll off?
She took her conscience's advice, slipping off the man as she stood up, clearing her throat.
