"Looks like we're done, folks. Besides the rather odd temperature fluctuation which might mean some stormy skies, there's nothing really of note. Behemoth levels remain constant, as I said." Cedric paused, pushing up his glasses with two fingers and picking up the papers before him to stack them neatly before placing them in a leather-bound folder.
The Vetr had a fountain pen stuck behind one ear, holding back the messy mass of blue locks, and for once appeared to not have any Shakespeare on him. This, of course, was a lie. He had a copy of Hamlet in his inside coat pocket, but it was currently hidden from the view of any of his compatriots. He wasn't supposed to have Shakespeare around him for the Circle's meetings, after all.
That, like many other things, never stopped him.
However, he was especially leery of the ending of this particular meeting. He'd figured he'd ask for Freya's help afterwards, meaning that he was in for yet another incredibly awkward occurrence.
Spectacular.
That wasn't even mentioning the fact that he'd probably been shooting Freya very nervous glances the entire time. He was fairly certain that the rest of the Circle hadn't noticed (they were great like that), but the socially keen Forsdottir probably would. And knowing her, she'd definitely make note.
"No questions? Meeting concluded, then."
With a susurrus of farewells, the Circle stood, leaving Cedric to awkwardly clear his throat and stare into the blank top margins of the pad of paper also contained in his folder.
As his colleagues cleared out, Cedric spoke up once more.
"Wait! Uhm. Freya. I need to ask you something."
He was almost 200% certain that she'd noticed his odd behaviour right now. It wasn't his fault that a drunken attractive woman had kissed him before he knocked her out. Although, it probably was.
He certainly hoped Ade couldn't remember that. She was pretty darned drunk at the time, but...
The Vetr attempted to repress a shudder, only partially succeeding.
"I. Ah." He paused, clearing his throat again and running a hand through his hair, both nervous ticks of his.
Let's start that over, Ced.
"So, you know how you owe me like five favors...?" He actually wasn't sure. It might be more, it might be less. He didn't keep track, and Freya probably knew him well enough to understand that perfectly by now. They had worked together for some time, after all.
"I want to call them all in," he blurted, probably cutting her off. Oops. Another thing he didn't ask for often: things in return for what he did for people.
Cedric took a breath before continuing. "I. Uh. Need to know some... things. About courting people." He stacked the papers once more. "I figured you probably knew about that?"

"Looks like we're done, folks. Besides the rather odd temperature fluctuation which might mean some stormy skies, there's nothing really of note. Behemoth levels remain constant, as I said."
Freya's posture remained upright, her hand supporting her chin as her large amber eyes bored into the man. Her gaze was bolted to Cedric; apt to listen to anything he had to say, even if the gravity of his speech whizzed right over her head.
She was never particularly attentive during such tedious events. She paid mind for the well being of the Drakonrhedi, of course, but she never really took these things to heart. The Council was required to accumulate every so often to address the nonexistent issues they had. It was a rare occurrence, but quite effective once a problem surfaced.
This, however, was certainly a rare occurrence. Freya hadn't been so vigilant during a meeting since... well, since her first week on the job. That was a hot mess.
Still, she wasn't especially interested in the words coming off her fellow Vetr's mouth. She was more so intrigued by his body language.
He had been shooting her looks throughout the entire meeting. At first, it didn't appear to be a surprise of any sort. They were, after all, far closer than they were with the remainder of their coworkers. Such things can only be expected.
He was different this time. Slightly fidgety? Sending her far too many glances, each one seeming to withhold some obscure trace of helplessness.
Well, okay, not entire helpless. But something was definitely up!
"No questions? Meeting concluded, then."
Freya rose to her feet, allowing the other Council members to funnel through the doorway before tagging behind the conga line. She sent Cedric a curious glance as she reached the door. Perhaps she had misinterpreted his apparent plea? No, she didn't. She was quite certain that she had accurately read his cries for help. She lingered at the threshold of the room.
"Wait! Uhm. Freya. I need to ask you something."
I knew it!
Freya backed into the doorway, her movement especially slow for dramatic effect. Of course there was something wrong! She didn't know what - it was a little worrying, to be honest! Still, she couldn't say that she wasn't excited. She pulled away from the door, turning to face Cedric.
"Hm?"
"I. Ah." He combed his flamboyant blue hair with his hand. A nervous habit of his, she had long since discovered.
"So, you know how you owe me like five favors...?"
She pondered at the thought. Was it truly five? Sure, they both had their fair share of mishaps, although she didn't believe it was a whole five. He was exaggerating.
It must have been four. Four and a half.
"Well, I suppose, but-" He cut her off before she could continue.
"I want to call them all in."
That statement caused her thin eyebrow to raise in suspicion. It triggered a smile, her curiosity gnawing at her gut. What could possibly cause him to reel in all of his favors? He clung to those things for dear life! Heck, he always brought them up at the most ridiculous of times. Practically everything could be countered with a "Hey, you owe me". Sure, they've swapped favors before. But he always seemed to outplay her.
Oh, Ced, this must be reeeaaalllyyy good.
"I. Uh. Need to know some... things. About courting people. I figured you probably knew about that?"
Her smile broadened, eyes lighting up at the request. A moment of silence swept through the scene just before she could gun him down with her rapid speaking.
"Oh, Ced, did you find a lady! ...O-or a man. I don't care. Yay! Who are they? What do they look like? Ohoh, I bet you found them in a library reading some Shakespearean stuff. Oh! This is exciting! Where do they live? Are they part of the Drakonrhedi? Are they from a clan? Oh, say they're from a clan! STAR-CROSSED LOVERS CED!"

Oh, say they're from a clan!"
He flinched, eyes squeezing shut as she continued her babble. However, he managed to recover himself before the end of her speech, beginning to pay attention.
I can still save this so long as I don't give her a gender.
"STAR-CROSSED LOVERS CED!"
"No!" he interjected, hands raising to gesture frantically at her before she made too many far too correct assumptions.
Remember, don't give her a gender!
"She's not-"
GODDAMMIT.
"She is not part of a clan! And she has blue- I mean-"
GODDAAAAAAMMIIIIIIT.
"SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T EXIST!"
He took a breath to cool himself off from the red blush tinting his face. He could, at least, be thankful for the fact that Freya lacked aura reading powers. The woman would be a terror with them.
"I'm researching for a Shakespearean play. I wanted to compare and contrast his time with our time."
That's a totally reasonable suggestion, Cedric. Well done.
At this point he didn't even know if he was being sarcastic.
"And I need to ask some questions."
He grimaced slightly.
"And I mean, a lot of questions. Starting with, if a girl--hypothetically--kisses you when drunk, does it mean... anything? At all?"
There's no way she could catch onto his game at all now.

"No!"
Cedric extended his arms, desperately attempting to cease her gibberish. Freya's excitement reluctantly settled, halting her assumptions to allow the man to properly respond.
"She's not-"
Haha, bingo! You did find yourself a lady!
"She is not part of a clan! And she has blue- I mean-"
Blue! Blue what? Blue eyes? Blue socks? Whaaaaattt!
"SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T EXIST!"
Freya bit back an impending chortle, watching the flustered man attempt to realign himself. She didn't exist, eh? She'd have difficulties believing that. Now that he roused the question, it would be hard to pry that leech from her skin.
"I'm researching for a Shakespearean play. I wanted to compare and contrast his time with our time."
Not very convincing... and that still doesn't make up for anything! If that were true, I think you would've started with that line.
"And I need to ask some questions."
She watched him with dangerous levels of amusement, her excitement having punched a hole through the ceiling already. Good recovery. Still too stubborn to believe it, but she'll take it nevertheless.
"And I mean, a lot of questions. Starting with, if a girl--hypothetically--kisses you when drunk, does it mean... anything? At all?"
Her grin mutated into a twisted smirk, attempting to physically restrain herself from bouncing up and down.
Cedric, you dog! Er... cat.
She gave herself a moment to properly compose herself. She wouldn't want to rap him with yet another blowout.
"Well, if we're being hypothetical... I suppose it could depend on the girl's level of drunkenness? Still, people don't simply kiss someone for no reason." Her lips cracked into a smile as she continued. "What a strange question! I bet this will be a wonderful play."
The sarcasm was, in fact, far too evident in her voice. She really shouldn't have bothered - crude humor was never her area of expertise. Of course, this was just too great to resist.

"Well, if we're being hypothetical... I suppose it could depend on the girl's level of drunkenness? Still, people don't simply kiss someone for no reason."
A measure of fascinated hope flashed into Cedric's eyes before he quickly reverted to a blank-slate expression. Freya was definitely looking for his weaknesses now.
"What a strange question! I bet this will be a wonderful play."
He nodded. He'd already gotten a play lined up--its plot line didn't actually fit, but whatever, it was so obscure that he doubted she'd read it.
"Love's Labour Lost," he offered in explanation.
Clearing his throat again, he continued elaborating on the situation.
"Well... I'm pretty sure that she's fairly drunk. She had a lot of alcohol--and I'm getting that from the stage instructions." That wasn't a bad recovery. "But I guess from her lines that she might've displayed some jealousy before? I mean, it's not like I'm an aura reader or anything of the sort."
Aura reading was probably way too obscure of a field to bring up right now, but Cedric didn't realize this, having been spending way too much time researching it as of late. Ade had sent him into a bit of a frenzy to have his bases covered.
He glanced up at Freya, finding her grinning like a maniac. She's onto me.
Cedric almost wanted to tell her. It might be nice to have a confidant. But knowing Freya, she'd probably try to meddle and matchmake... so there was no sense in letting her get more involved than she already was. He had enough issues to worry about already.
"I mean, she and the other character have just recently met, but they did some fairly... extensive exercises together. I mean, I suppose it could qualify as quality bonding time? Speaking of. What does count as 'quality bonding time' anyway?"
And does it involve beating up people, being taken out to dinner, and then promptly getting drunk before being knocked out by the person you'd just kissed? Is this a normal start to a relationship? I'm kind of hoping so.
"Also, how pissed would a woman be to find out that after kissing someone while drunk, she was promptly knocked out by this person? I mean. Gently, of course." No Ades were harmed in the making of this tangled web of confusing social interactions.
That was probably wrong.

"Love's Labour Lost."
Freya was, of course, unfamiliar with the title.
"Well... I'm pretty sure that she's fairly drunk. She had a lot of alcohol--and I'm getting that from the stage instructions. But I guess from her lines that she might've displayed some jealousy before? I mean, it's not like I'm an aura reader or anything of the sort."
She stroked her chin thoughtfully. He was admittedly good at covering his tracks, but she knew better than to believe him. After all, she already had his scent. Jealousy, though? That was interesting. The entire "aura reader" expression was somewhat... unique. She wasn't entirely sure as to what those things were. She had certainly heard of such strange cases, sure, but she hardly had a basis knowledge of the matter.
"And what was this character jealous of?" She asked, promptly deciding to take a nearby seat. This conversation may be slightly longer than she had anticipated. Not like she was complaining.
"I mean, she and the other character have just recently met, but they did some fairly... extensive exercises together. I mean, I suppose it could qualify as quality bonding time? Speaking of. What does count as 'quality bonding time' anyway?"
Freya rose an eyebrow at the man. Just what had he done to achieve "quality bonding time"?
"Well, it depends on what 'extensive exercises' these two participated in."
"Also, how pissed would a woman be to find out that after kissing someone while drunk, she was promptly knocked out by this person? I mean. Gently, of course."
That was it. There it was. The breaking point. Her previously crossed legs retained their normal stance, leaning forward slightly as she stared at the man in disbelief Knocked her ou... what could possible require such a rash reaction?
"Cedric, what the hell!"

"And what was this character jealous of?"
Cedric decided to refrain from explaining that yet. The situation was complicated enough for a theatrical performance, if he did say so himself. However... if it were Shakespeare, there'd have to be a transvestite somewhere in there, and he didn't see one. Yet.
"Well, it depends on what 'extensive exercises' these two participated in."
He cast a glance sideways.
And, finally, she snapped.
"Cedric, what the hell!"
He pulled away, hands automatically flying up, open palms facing her, as if indicating how helpless he was and that it was absolutely not his fault.
"What else was I supposed to do?! Freya, she kissed me! And was drunk! And worst of all I think I liked it!"
The Vetr took a deep breath, recovering from his own explosion, ignoring the blushing in his face.
Why even bother pretending this is about Shakespeare anymore.
A fat lot of good that facade had done him. He inhaled, lungs expanding to their full capacity.
"See because well first of all she thought I was a cat because I was in cat form but anyway I transformed out and she was only a little surprised and then we went up and broke up a fight and were a pretty good team if I say so myself so then I invited her to help me clean out the city well we found this gang intimidating this guy and so we intervened and beat them up and referenced Shakespeare while we were at it and well then I invited her out to dinner 'cause well she was nice right reward system and all?"
A pause while he inhaled again.
"But well then she gets drunk because apparently she really like Black Ties and I can't blame her they're good and I really don't mind paying because you know my parents and all and then well like I asked her for her help in making an aura lens so that she would only be able to see emotions of mine I wanted her to see because she's an aura reader you know and I don't like people knowing how I feel you know that and especially since I kinda like her."
Deep breath.
"So anyway we're talking and I might have been checking her out because she started acting really irritated towards me so when I asked her I think she figured I might like someone else who's an aura reader and said that they were probably really annoying which I said that they weren't because of course she's not annoying and then she called them--which is actually her you know--a bitch and I replied that no, this person was not a bitch, because well she's not a bitch. She's nice. And she helped me."
He let out a sigh. "And then... she sorta seemed to get annoyed. But then I managed to turn the conversation to the fact that she was drinking a lot, which she didn't seem to mind, and since I'm not like her ruler or anything I didn't really mind. But then she kissed me?"
Cedric paused again, this time slightly guiltily. "And I think that might've been my fault."
He really, really wanted to just faceplant on the table and sort of stay that way for a very long time. Instead, he simply sprawled his arms forward and put one side of his head on top of the folder.
"But she agreed to help me with the aura lens... but I don't know if she remembers that we kissed or what. And for the record, I didn't hit her or anything. I used the sinus trick." Freya might know of the sinus trick. Either way, he could always show her. "Plus, she was probably about to pass out anyway."
Cedric threw a glance up at his fellow Vetr, eyes filled with tired confusion.

"What else was I supposed to do?! Freya, she kissed me! And was drunk! And worst of all I think I liked it!"
She shook her head furiously, bringing her hand to her temple as if she were nursing a headache. What was he possibly thinking? At least he had dropped his futile guise in the process.
"You do realize that you have so many other options, right? Knocking her out should not be one of them! Goodness, if someone knocked me out, I don't think I'd want to face them after that."
Her stern expression lessened slightly as she reconciled her words. That probably wasn't the most opportune thing to say at the time... especially since he just admitted that he may even have feelings for her.
Bad Freya! Quick, say something nice.
"Well, I mean, maybe I'd ask them why. Maybe she thought it was funny! Ahh, I don't know, I just hope she doesn't remember that specific event." She shook her head once again, saying, "I mean, you did say she was drunk. You could probably convince her that something else happened."
She had partially anticipated Cedric's outbreak.
"Well, yes, that makes se-"
"But well then she gets drunk because apparently she really like Black Ties and I can't blame her they're good and I really don't mind paying because you know my parents and all and then well like I asked her for her help in making an aura lens so that she would only be able to see emotions of mine I wanted her to see because she's an aura reader you know and I don't like people knowing how I feel you know that and especially since I kinda like her."
"Ah, so that explains the whole aura ref-"
"So anyway we're talking and I might have been checking her out because she started acting really irritated towards me so when I asked her I think she figured I might like someone else who's an aura reader and said that they were probably really annoying which I said that they weren't because of course she's not annoying and then she called them--which is actually her you know--a bitch and I replied that no, this person was not a bitch, because well she's not a bitch. She's nice. And she helped me."
"Oh gosh this is-"
"And then... she sorta seemed to get annoyed. But then I managed to turn the conversation to the fact that she was drinking a lot, which she didn't seem to mind, and since I'm not like her ruler or anything I didn't really mind. But then she kissed me?"
There was a pause on both of their parts. Freya was still attempting to piece together the story.
"And I think that might've been my fault."
"But she agreed to help me with the aura lens... but I don't know if she remembers that we kissed or what. And for the record, I didn't hit her or anything. I used the sinus trick. Plus, she was probably about to pass out anyway."
It was still difficult to wrap her head around. She supposed that his course of action seemed semi-logical, especially given his personality. She pursed her lips as she replied.
"I mean... that could make some form of sense. But I still believe that what you did was incredibly unnecessary, even if you didn't physically knock her out!" She let loose a sigh before continuing. "Still, you could always lead her to believe that she simply passed out. And you do have a valid reason for visiting her!"
She shrugged and said, "I think I'd give it a few days. When did this happen, anyways?"

"You do realize that you have so many other options, right? Knocking her out should not be one of them! Goodness, if someone knocked me out, I don't think I'd want to face them after that."
What else was I supposed to do? As much as Cedric didn't like to admit it, he'd basically just panicked and knocked Ade out. It'd been his first reflex. Something awkward? Remove it from your life, never let it happen again, and refuse to touch it. That was probably what was about to happen here.
The only issue being that he'd probably end up telling Ade before all of this was through.
"Well, I mean, maybe I'd ask them why. Maybe she thought it was funny! Ahh, I don't know, I just hope she doesn't remember that specific event. I mean, you did say she was drunk. You could probably convince her that something else happened."
Cedric sighed, after his outbreak was finished, and answered her words from before.
"Freya. She smirked at me. It was. I don't even. Coy?" He was completely lost in this, and not about to move from where his upper body sprawled atop the oak table. "Either way. People don't normally smirk that way when they're making a joke."
"I mean... that could make some form of sense. But I still believe that what you did was incredibly unnecessary, even if you didn't physically knock her out! Still, you could always lead her to believe that she simply passed out. And you do have a valid reason for visiting her!"
He turned away, smushing his face into the folder. "What was I supposed to do?" It was an honest question, filled once more with total confusion. "Besides, I won't tell her I knocked her out. I'll say she passed out. She probably won't remember, anyway." He paused before muttering out, "I hope not."
"I think I'd give it a few days. When did this happen, anyways?"
The Vetr paused.
"Yesterday."
He was silent for a few more moments, and then, "You're not allowed to tell anyone, by the way." He'd bought her silence in favors and probably a bit of begging.
"So after this 'few days' time limit is up, what am I supposed to do?"
It took him a moment to realize how vague that sounded.
"In regards to courting, I mean."
He'd have to see Freya's response to this. She might discourage him entirely from pursuing this--a judgement that he supposed he could trust her to make. Forsdottir played matchmaker enough to, he figured, know if something was incompatible.
Freya'd just have to make do and go off of what he'd given her, anyway. He wasn't about to tell her Ade's identity.

"Freya. She smirked at me. It was. I don't even. Coy? Either way. People don't normally smirk that way when they're making a joke."
She frowned slightly, although she couldn't argue with his reasoning.
What was I supposed to do? Besides, I won't tell her I knocked her out. I'll say she passed out. She probably won't remember, anyway. I hope not.
That was a sensible approach. She was still abashed that Cedric actually knocked the poor soul out, although she was beginning to see the light in the situation. Besides, it's not like it was entirely surprising. Not coming from Cedric, anyways.
He promptly replied to her question.
"Yesterday."
Only yesterday, huh? A minuscule smile formed on her lips. It was almost amusing to see Cedric in such a desperate state of mind. Perhaps he truly did have said feelings for this woman? I mean, she would've assumed that he'd give himself a moment to compensate the events before coming to her for her indisputable expertise.
"You're not allowed to tell anyone, by the way."
She chuckled. "Honestly, Ced, who would I tell?" No friends of hers were interested in the affairs of her comrades. ...Actually, some may be, but she had no reason to spill his secrets.
"So after this 'few days' time limit is up, what am I supposed to do? In regards to courting, that is."
Freya allowed a few seconds of silence to surpass them. She exhaled, readying herself before responding.
"Well, I would confront her in a seemingly 'coincidental' way. You know. Figure out where she's going, and just-so-happen to stumble on her. That aura lens thing is good. I'd milk that for all it's worth."
The straightened her posture, hands lying flat on the table as she proceeded.
"Hopefully she doesn't remember any of the events that transpired prior to you knocking her out. If she does, maybe she'll have the heart to not bring them up. If she does... Improvise. I'm assuming she won't remember anything, like you said."
"After that, it's kind of up to you. What kind of stuff does she like? Do you know?"

"Honestly, Ced, who would I tell?"
He shrugged helplessly. "I don't know. I just don't want word reaching the Tiros. That'll be a hell for sure."
"Well, I would confront her in a seemingly 'coincidental' way. You know. Figure out where she's going, and just-so-happen to stumble on her. That aura lens thing is good. I'd milk that for all it's worth."
He nodded. That made perfect sense, after all. Just pretend nothing had happened--if she could sense his awkwardness, he was screwed. "The only issue is that I'll have to be incredibly calm the entire time. Of course, that'll be the case no matter when or where I interact with her." His ego wasn't about to hold up to that particular beating.
"Hopefully she doesn't remember any of the events that transpired prior to you knocking her out. If she does, maybe she'll have the heart to not bring them up. If she does... Improvise. I'm assuming she won't remember anything, like you said."
"I'll convince her that she was delirious and drunk if she remembers anything." He could probably pull off that lie. Cedric constantly walked a thin line between brain-numbingly socially awkward and an expert at subterfuge, meaning that his ability to lie was... unreliable, at best. However, he could pull his own strings to get things to work if he had to. And anyway, there was no way Freya could object to his lying about the topic. He lied frequently enough that it was commonplace to him.
"After that, it's kind of up to you. What kind of stuff does she like? Do you know?"
The Vetr took a deep breath, pausing for thought.
"Well... food... weapons... my hair and quite possibly my nose?" He paused, then brightened considerably. "Adventure. Yes. She likes my style of adventure, anyway."
Freya knew his style of adventure, but he was allowed to say the rather trite tag line, even as confused and slightly depressed as he currently was.
"Kicking arse, and looking good while doing so."
Cedric was all about style.
His smile faded quickly enough, and he returned to being sprawled atop the table in sullen thought. It wasn't self-pity so much as a total lack of direction--something that was slowly being remedied, but not yet fully.
"Would it be immoral to put her as my partner for recon patrols?"
He didn't want to take advantage of his Vetr capabilities, after all. He could arrange things like that, of course, but Freya would be a good moral compass as to whether or not it'd be a bad idea. It was sort of like a forced date, after all.
The Vetr really needed to stop being so frantic. Puck had already pinned him against the corner of his stall and demanded an explanation of his behaviour, something which he'd done after a few rough drake kisses to the face. Since then, Puck had refused to get back in his stall except at night, instead choosing to observe his master's object of fascination. Ade was probably being judged by the drake, if Cedric was being honest.
The poor woman.

"I don't know. I just don't want word reaching the Tiros. That'll be a hell for sure."
She couldn't help but agree. Those kids typically made a mess out of things, igniting rumors with any spark they could find. It would be best that his little crush go by unnoticed.
"The only issue is that I'll have to be incredibly calm the entire time. Of course, that'll be the case no matter when or where I interact with her."
How would that- Oh, riiiiggghhhtt. She's an aura reader! Emotions, yeah? Haha, Ced, now you're just setting yourself up to fail.
"Well, I don't know too much about aura readers. But I'm sure you'll be just fine! Gotta keep your chin up."
He was going to royally screw that part up. She could only hope that the woman currently grasping his heart could push past his inbound awkwardness.
"I'll convince her that she was delirious and drunk if she remembers anything."
"Yes, that's a good idea," She agreed, toying with her hair as he began to list off her likes.
"Well... food... weapons... my hair and quite possibly my nose?" She giggled silently, watching him gain a sudden radiance as he proceeded. "Adventure. Yes. She likes my style of adventure, anyway."
Adventure, huh? She could work with that.
"Kicking arse, and looking good while doing so."
Freya continued to chuckle. She wished she had a visual to go with his babble, but she knew that the Vetr would be more likely to knock her out than he was to reveal the woman's identity.
... Actually, that was a poor example. He would knock her out with little hesitation.
He was more likely to feed her to a Pyropan. There. That seemed less likely.
"Good, that's good. I know you can't up and find an adventure, and I certainly don't want you to go picking fights, but you'll probably want to find some way to entertain her if you want to keep her." She removed her hand from her hair, having satisfied the urge to practically ruin the tight braid.
"Of course, I don't know who she is, so it's a little hard for me to give you proper advice. Maybe you should take her on walks? Sounds like you both like to tamper with civilians."
Freya honestly had no idea what she was doing. She could easily be leading this man to his doom, but she'll be damned if she didn't get a say in his romantic affairs!
"Would it be immoral to put her as my partner for recon patrols?"
She couldn't help but to smirk at his request.
"You know, it might be a little suspicious, but it isn't an entirely awful idea. Although it could easily come and bite you in the arse, especially if you later realize that you aren't as compatible as you imagined."

"Well, I don't know too much about aura readers. But I'm sure you'll be just fine! Gotta keep your chin up."
He gave a sardonic chuckle. "Not sure if that'll actually help any."
"Good, that's good. I know you can't up and find an adventure, and I certainly don't want you to go picking fights, but you'll probably want to find some way to entertain her if you want to keep her."
"I don't go picking fights already?"
Cedric spoke as if it was news to him. It was true--to satisfy his anger (or even boredom), he was known to purposefully irritate people with Shakespeare and his overall snobbish manner of carrying himself in order to goad them into initiating a fight. This always ended badly for the other side, as rarely did the Vetr find himself matched evenly or inclined to have mercy. Of course, he always made it appear as if it were the other side's fault--they started it, he simply hit back.
Not that he had a problem with hitting first.
"Of course, I don't know who she is, so it's a little hard for me to give you proper advice. Maybe you should take her on walks? Sounds like you both like to tamper with civilians."
"What, romantic walks through Midgardborg?" Although he spoke with sarcasm dripping off of the words, after a moment's pause he realized that might not be a bad idea. His head lifted slightly, frowning as he thought the process through. The city might be a smog-covered net of rats, but the Drakonrhedi were trained as rat hunters. Ade hadn't had an issue with clearing out the city before, why would she mind doing so again? She'd even said something to the effect of foregoing her other duties in favor of the exercise.
He could definitely bring her on walks.
"You know, it might be a little suspicious, but it isn't an entirely awful idea. Although it could easily come and bite you in the arse, especially if you later realize that you aren't as compatible as you imagined."
Cedric shrugged. She had a fair point. "I can always change up partners. That happens every so often. I can even pin it on another Vetr, you know that I'm pretty good at pointed suggestions towards some of our older members."
He sat up fully, folding his hands on top of his chest as he leaned back in his chair. "It's probably worth a try, anyway. If only as an experiment."
He'd never found an objection to experimentation in the past, either.
His head tilted to the side slightly. "That sounds like a plan. Thanks."
Walks and patrol partners. Certainly enough time to figure out how 'compatible' we are, to put it Freya's way. And quality bonding time, according to, apparently, me.
