Kvrai was not in a good mood.
Who would be? She was, first of all, surrounded by morons and imbeciles. Humanity had not impressed her--their brains had not grown bigger during their disconnection with the interstellar world. It was no wonder the planet had been selected for subjugation.
However, that was not her foremost concern during this particular meeting with the Infinite. This time, she had bigger issues than humanity coming their way, and precious few agents to work with.
A Major Promethaen known as Dae'myr the Endwalker had volunteered his current locale of study, a small and rather reclusive, as well as entirely barbaric, village of Bjornung, as a meeting place. She wasn't entirely sure how he'd managed to create them a meeting area with such expedited ease and without alarming any of the human sheep surrounding the area. She suspected he had managed to get the tribe in the crosshairs of Warmonger's puscannons, or as the humans quaintly said, "ruled with an iron fist."
Again, not her primary concern. She could not deny, however, that she was appreciative. Until now, they had not had such a luxury.
What was her concern was the "comet" headed their way.
This Endwalker had explained the situation: he was impersonating a shaman of the gods of fire. Not too hard for her to fit into, at least.
She'd put quite a bit of thought into her costume, nonetheless. As an important agent of the Infinite, it was in her best interest to fit well into whatever role was required to get this meeting done.
As such, she was currently dressed in the role of a shaman of the goddess of Death. She'd thought it morbidly amusing, after all. A tight black leather bodice covered her torso and arms, fangs an claws threaded in, meeting with long, fingerless black gloves. A skirt of strips of black leather over wispy ebony fabric covered her legs. She'd manage to, after a whole lot of coaxing and bargaining, get a hold of a rich mantle made entirely of raven feathers, with the plumes of a black swan accenting along the fringes. Her boots were similar in hue, having been chosen for a bit more functionality than anything. Her hand firmly grasped a long staff of ebony wood, topped by a series of trinkets and a ferocious fanged skull.
Her form, too, had been altered, instead taking the image of a raven-haired woman with eerie silver eyes. Her hair was pinned up with two long, polished bone sticks into a tight bun, although strands escaped to dance in the breeze.
Now, she strode into the village.
Bjornung with axes greeted her, hostility obvious in their eyes. She'd been warned about this, and simply kept herself aloof and calm.
"I come to convene with The Sighted," she spoke, voice dark and smooth, specially crafted in this form.
"Show your identity," one growled.
"The gods are all the identity I need." Her reply was with the same disconcerting serenity. "And I would not be so foolish as to speak to me in that tone again, or face the eternal cold."
That gave them pause, and they backed up, allowing her to pass. She breezed through, steps smooth, giving her the appearance of gliding instead of walking.
She continued, the villagers parting in front of her with whispers and leers. The Silverblooded ignored them, continuing quietly to the largest lodge in the village--the one belonging to, she assumed, her Major Promethaen contact.
After tapping on the wood by the door with her staff, she pushed open the flaps and entered.

Dae'myr turned suddenly as the lodge doors opened, looking over the black-clad figure standing before him.
He recognized her, naturally. Most Promethaen would.
A sensible Promethaen would have taken to a knee.
Fortunately for the sometimes-insensible Dae'myr, he was in control presently. This was, after all, his village.
He spread his arms, walking towards her. He gestured towards Kvrai, dark eyes raking her assumed form.
"Ahhh! The Angel of Death comes to my door, yet she does not come for me. She comes to me. How delightful. Perhaps later, we shall play the song of your cold heart to our eternal foes, the behemoths? Or perhaps we shall play another song." He smiled wickedly, displaying what were apparently filed human teeth.
"I would avoid suggesting that, brother." Phobos' voice was mildly annoyed.
Shut up, Phobos. I am something akin to dominant right now. Over the Eye of the Infinite, no less. I am simply pressing my advantage.
"If she recognizes it as such you're going to find yourself very much pressed."
Dae'myr nodded to no one, eyes unfocused. His Bjornung assumed this was him talking with the Gods. Any Promethaen would know it as a nearly unconscious response to one's OAI.
He perked up, staring her down for a moment before crossing to the entrance and looking out into the valley. "The others are slow, it seems. We are the only ones here. They will yet be some time. Phobos tells me their presences are yet far." He turned back to her, a predatory grin marking his features.
"Dae'myr." Phobos had crossed beyond the realms of simple annoyance and was losing his patience with his so-called brother.
Not that he could really do anything no matter what Dae'myr did. The Promethaen never let him forget that in all things between them, he was dominant. He was in control.
You really are no fun at all.
Dae'myr sat down in his makeshift throne, lounging and watching Kvrai's every move, eyes boring into her.
The others were coming, he was sure. He had no doubt they would come.
And he would be here to greet them.

From the start, Kvrai was a little put-off by her greeting.
He had welcomed her in character, which appeared at least to be rather good procedure when it came down to it. However, his eyes appeared to be a bit more invasive than was standard.
A ruffle of concern appeared to run through Kvrai's OAI, and soon Xii was running a number of tests on the other Promethaen's hormone levels.
"Xii, what are you doing?"
"One moment, please, Mistress."
"Ahhh! The Angel of Death comes to my door, yet she does not come for me. She comes to me. How delightful. Perhaps later, we shall play the song of your cold heart to our eternal foes, the behemoths? Or perhaps we shall play another song."
The Silverblooded cast a glance around, taking in their surroundings, not deigning to reply for a moment as he communed with his OAI. They appeared to be alone, however, she had no knowledge of whether or not he'd placed additional sentries or hidden watchmen.
"Results aren't good, Mistress. He appears to be demonstrating high levels of... well, perverse pleasure."
"Perverse, as in-?"
"Yes, Mistress."
Kvrai's eyes narrowed by just the slightest increment.
"The others are slow, it seems. We are the only ones here. They will yet be some time. Phobos tells me their presences are yet far."
She turned to him coldly, and suddenly the smile on his face made much more sense and was much less comforting or friendly. Suddenly, her own attitude was much less businesslike and much more irritated. They were here on business, did she really have to deal with an another annoyance?
"Continue with that tone and you had best hope they hurry their scrawny ends towards this hovel of yours."
"I doubt he actually intends to initiate a sort of courtship, Mistress. He is probably just attempting to establish dominance. It would do us well to quickly put an end to that."
"I figured as much, Xii. Besides, I would not accept courtship."
She shifted her weight to one leg and crossed one arm, the other holding up the staff.
"Regardless, we have many more pressing matters to attend to than you." |

Dae'myr sat in his chair, staring at his superior. She had become colder since he had spoken to her. Perhaps she realized what he was up to.
Ahh... one that can keep up. I do wonder...
Phobos made a strange clicking sound as he scanned Dae'myr's thoughts for a moment.
A shiver seemed to run through the OAI.
"Dae'm --" Phobos stopped short. The OAI didn't even want to address what it had found.
Dae'myr felt no more invasions of his thoughts after that. He smirked, sharp teeth reflecting firelight.
"Continue with that tone and you had best hope they hurry their scrawny ends towards this hovel of yours." ))
Dae'myr stood up, approaching the Eye of the Infinite. "Perhaps I do not wish them to hurry." He drew close in an instant, fingers dancing over her shoulder. He dragged a nail across the back of her neck as he pulled away just as quickly, returning to his chair with magical speed. He sat back in the throne looking satisfied, even smug.
He was walking a thin line on the edge of death. Of course, nothing excited him more than walking the line between exerting control over a superior and being turned into a pile of ash. He had practiced many times on many Promethaen with far shorter tempers.
"Regardless, we have many more pressing matters to attend to than you." ))
He laughed, which was more of a harsh barking than anything resembling a warm human laugh. He drew his ritual knife and tossed it from hand to hand for a moment. "This may be the case. But what if I am to attend to you, hmm?"
Deimos. Stop this madness. While I care not for your safety, I care very much for mine.
Dae'myr simply grinned at no one, though with his eyes still focused on Kvrai it could easily be mistaken as another unnerving "smile."

“The Silverblooded is already there.”
“Acknowledged.”
It wasn’t like it mattered. Kerberos had no interest in the other promethaen, nor was the blue shift comet particularly worrisome. All Kerberos cared about was getting the data before ‘blue shift’ became ‘oh look at that where do you suppose the Earth went’.
“Kerberos. Do note that integrity is important. Do not kill anyone.”
“How droll.” A pause. “May Kerberos give up pretentions of the first and second persons?”
“… That would be harmless. So yes. That is fine.”
Kerberos grinned, practically skipping along the predetermined path to the Bjornung village. Hardly a fitting movement of Kerberos’ attire, which consisted of mostly dark, oddly undecorated armour. Well, that was a lie. There was a curious design on the back of said armour, but other than that it was dark and purely functional. Quite strange, considering Kerberos’ affinity for the outlandish.
Striding into the village, a couple of guards approached Kerberos, axes slightly at the ready. They seemed irked by something. “Halt,” they said. The looked alike, even though they were nothing of the sort. How strange. Kerberos stopped to humour them, smirking as a brow raised curiously. “Your identity, wanderer.”
Kerberos bent slightly, body tensing yet fluid; an animalistic battle stance. “Dare they question the will of the Demon of the Depths?”
“How dramatic.”
“Kerberos is a God of Destruction, is Kerberos not?”
A sound, like a chime in the wind of a typhoon. “Kerberos, momento mori.”
Ah, the praetorian guard. Kerberos just grinned further.
Meanwhile, in the real world, the two guards looked at each other, one mouthing, ‘I told you, today is not our day’. The other scowled, not liking being wrong. Eyes watching them with a wariness born of fear of the unknown, they let Kerberos through, into the heart of the village.
What a crude place.
It was not the state of architecture that bothered them. Oh, no. It was more the lack of whimsy in the eyes of the villagers, the way they seemed drawn back. They were ruled by fear and anger, and it showed on their features.
The children of the village were also subdued, their eyes narrowed at them from behind their mothers’ legs. Children who knew something was wrong with the creature strolling through their village, its form masculine and feminine all at the same time, something strange radiating further from its form. They were not taught of such a beast.
It did not amuse Kerberos, this strange air. And if Kerberos was not amused by it, Kerberos did not care for it.
“Triangulating,” Huginn said.
They pulled at Kerberos’ eyes, guiding them to the large hovel.
“By the by, the large amount of testosterone indicates an altercation.”
“Oh, goodie. Kerberos loves altercations!”
A sigh from deep within. Kerberos burst through the wooden panels that made their living being a door. Black eyes scanned over the two promethaen already inside. The Silverblooded, Kvrai, looked about ready to end the Endwalker, Dae’myr.
“Kerberos should have brought popcorn.”
“Has popcorn even been invented yet?”
“Shhhhh.” Aloud, Kerberos said, still with that shit-eating grin, “Oh, my. Is a moment of tension being played out? What a shame there had to be an interruption.” The way Kerberos moved, putting the panels back into place, then sliding further into the hovel, indicated no such shame. Not from Kerberos, anyway.
“The sarcasm was so thick we almost suffocated on it.”

Today was to be a decidedly fun one.
Having received the "invitation" by way of Melanctha, Lokotus had dutifully decided to show up, on time, and in proper order. Without scarring a few humans horribly.
But that just seemed too boring for his tastes that day, and he was feeling rather cynical. This fact was not aided by the knowledge that he would have to deal with the Endwalker, who was undoubtedly annoying in Lokotus' eyes.
"Dear Melanctha, just what shall I do for my little costume, hm?" He asked sarcastically, knowing exactly what persona he would assume today. It was an old long-time favorite of his.
"I might suggest Loki, but I know you have already decided upon him therefore this suggestion would be pointless."
"Indeed it would be... Ready for some fun?"
"I do not experience the same pleasure you do at reeking havoc among these lifeforms."
"No, of course you don't. You're no fun at all, Mel."
"I'm also the only one who likes you. But that is built into my programming."
"Shush. The Wulfing man from several nights ago didn't seem to mind me."
"You are going to be late, Lokotus."
"Right..."
Closing his eyes, Lokotus - as he was allowing himself to be this today - pictured the small village he wanted. He pictured the disgusting scent of the fleshbags and the feel of the earth beneath him. When he opened his eyes, he stood before two startled guards, their weapons pointed at him. Tentatively, they spoke. "Halt. Identify yourself."
Now thoroughly in a 'Loki' mindset, Lokotus grew angry, letting out a sound similar to a growl. "Do you not recognize your own God? I stand before you as Loki, foolish mortals. Move, before I gut you like the disgusting pigs I see you as."
When they hesitated a moment more, Lokotus let out a hum of joy as he created for them both the sudden image of Loki stepping forward to stab them both. They shrieked, cried out in pain as Lokotus walked past them, still humming happily. If anyone came to help them, the two guards would have been the only ones to see the blood suddenly pouring from their stomachs.
That was not a care for the Mischievous today.
As he came to the lodge doors, he did a quick mental scan, recognizing the Silverblooded, the Endwalker and the Subversive an instant before he opened both doors and swooped in with a giant smile and lazy eyes.
"Ah, my fellow people. What a joy to see you all! Dae'myr, you're looking good in the Flesh-Suit, yes?" He turned to Kvrai. "But darling, it really doesn't suit you." He sighed, leaning up against the wall as if he hadn't a care in the world and batted his eyelashes sweetly, still smiling.

(ooc: Bubut I like my table. )  Zsasilda approached the village, finding herself surprisingly awkward in her new role. Granted, she still wore the basic guise of Arnleif; though somewhat older than usual. However, the clothes which were required for her role as a shaman- far from those which she had become accustomed to- were hideously impractical. All feathers and...well, some crazy adornments which fell to the ground and almost tripped her up when she wasn't paying attention. Thank goodness for Uri, then. What's more, the clothing was bright blue and silver. Blue, and silver. Far too bright for her liking, but trust her to choose a god of the ocean. I knew we should have gone with shaman of goddess of the stars.
You hate her, remember? I doubt you would even be able to pretend to worship her.
She is a bit of an arrogant twat, I will admit. But I'm still right.
Is that Lokotus up ahead, mistress?
Probably.
Would you like me to contact his OAI to make sure?
I am certain you would enjoy that about as much as I. No, leave it be. I wouldn't want to attract his attention prematurely.Unhurriedly, Zsasilda made her way towards the guard post Lokotus had so recently passed. She was sorting out her story in her head when, sounding uncharacteristically worried, Uri broke into her thoughts. Something is wrong, mistress.
Zsasilda stopped and looked at the guards they were approaching. One was curled up on the ground, clutching at his torso. The other sat back, looking startled, pale as a sheet. The one on the ground was making little noises. Zsasilda frowned and knelt down nearby. "Was it Loki?" she asked. He nodded. Zsasilda sighed, straightening up. "I hate that guy. Don't worry, I'll find him." That was true, though she didn't really intend to do anything about the situation of these unfortunate humans. Zsasilda made her way through the streets, the villagers thankfully leaving her be as she passed. She found the meeting place with little difficulty, and undramatically slipped inside. "Greetings, my companions," she said. "I hope I am in time for the discussion?" There is significantly more tension in the atmosphere than natural.

Kvrai was so not in the mood for this.
"Mistress, I believe you should take a moment to calm yourself-"
"Xii. Shut up."
Her power had just begun to well within her, curling and coiling like a snake that has been prodded one too many times, when Kerberos entered like an overjoyous puppy.
“Oh, my. Is a moment of tension being played out? What a shame there had to be an interruption.”
The magic relaxed, like a lick of tempestuous water subsiding into a calm mirror.
"Dae'myr owes you his life," she added. "He ought to remember such a favor."
Lokotus soon followed.
"Ah, my fellow people. What a joy to see you all! Dae'myr, you're looking good in the Flesh-Suit, yes? But darling, it really doesn't suit you."
Kvrai chuckled, her entire state of mind having already shifted into a much better mood. "The flesh-suit appears to fit you like the skin it is, my dear--how sad. One of the Infinite, most comfortable as a lowly human! It's as if you were born for the role."
Oh, my dear Lokotus. If only I could take you seriously.
Lastly came Zsasilda, quite probably the most sane one in the gathering. And here is my motley crew for the gathering. A gathering that will no doubt give me information of utmost urgency, which may or may not destroy this experiment in its youth.
The shipboard OAI aboard the Halcyon, which has briefly docked itself on the far side of the moon, reached out to her.
"We will be establishing connection momentarily."
It spoke their language, a refreshing breath of air after living with the humans.
Xii sent back an affirmative signal, then Kvrai spoke.
"The Infinite is preparing for connection." Her voice was cynical, but it lacked emotions. Once again, she had shifted, and anyone who interrupted the process now would be trifling with the Eye of the Infinite instead of Kvrai--a much more dangerous pasttime. "It would not do us good to keep them waiting, they could annihilate us where we stand."
It was true, and at this rate, Kvrai figured it a very real possibility. The star, she'd long ago figured, was a comet--and that meant a very real possibility of it carrying enemies of one sort or another.
The OAI spoke again. "The Infinite awaits."
Kvrai glanced around, and seated herself lightly on a crate. They were maybe in a rough circle. "I will be establishing the connection now. You do not have to attend if you do not desire, but it will not be to your benefit."
With that, Xii set about looping together connections from all the Promethaen around them. As she had said, there was nothing forcing them to attend--but rarely would one find a Promethaen willing to wait for another Promethaen, let alone help one, who had fallen behind.
When everyone was ready, the OAI greeted them once more.
"Stars guide you. We will be connecting to the Infinite in three... two... one."

Deimos had made a grave error. Kvrai was ready to snuff out the flame of his life. She had had enough of his antics, and now she was done. Whoops."Brother, I'm not sure protocol allows us to hit back if one of the Infinite strikes us."
You. Are going to talk. To me. About protocol. NOW!?
Deimos' rage was so potent it caused Phobos to cry out in pain. Fortunately for the moons of Mars, an ally happened by. Not quite an ally. Certainly not a foe. The Subversive's allegiance's were strange, but Dae'myr believed himself to be on the right side of Kerberos' intentions. “Oh, my. Is a moment of tension being played out? What a shame there had to be an interruption.”)) Dae'myr stepped away from Kvrai with the smuggest of smug grins. He bowed towards the newcomer in black. "Ah! The Demon of the Depths. A veritable hurricane of chaos. How fortunate we are to have its eye with us. I trust you've been blowing strange winds across the valleys?" Deimos smiled in the friendliest way possible. The result was something slightly less than friendly. And then Lokotus came in. "Joy." Phobos was not amused. Likewise, my brother.
"Ah, my fellow people. What a joy to see you all! Dae'myr, you're looking good in the Flesh-Suit, yes?")) Dae'myr struck a pose for a moment. At least someone notices how good this form is for the dramatic."Even if it is Lokotus."Must you ruin my fun, brother? "Yes."Dae'myr considered adding Promthaen-style wings and a tail to the form, but decided against it for now. I'll save that one for the Bjornung. They'll be amazed when the "gods" transfigure me to be more like them.Dae'myr continued designing this "perfect form" in his head until a voice sounded in his head. "Stars guide you. We will be connecting to the Infinite in three... two... one.")) "Deimos. Snap out of it. Time to go." Phobos seemed unusually serious. Kerberos returned both with a sharp incline of the head, grin unwavering. “ We hear our song in the ocean; we hear our song in the sea. Never before have we heard our song in the sea.” Before Huginn nor Muninn could explain how exasperating Kerberos was being, Lokotus the Mischievous launched himself into the room. “Ah, my fellow people. What a joy to see you all! Dae'myr, you're looking good in the Flesh-Suit, yes?” the Mischievous said. Dae’myr struck a pose a some variety. Kerberos snorted in amusement. But Lokotus was not done. He turned to Kvrai. “But darling, it really doesn't suit you.” She chuckled. “The flesh-suit appears to fit you like the skin it is, my dear--how sad. One of the Infinite, most comfortable as a lowly human! It's as if you were born for the role.” There was a clatter in Kerberos’ head, and he swatted at himself as if a fly were by his ears. “ What, what is it? Spit it out!” A frenzy of sound and sight. Voices screamed across the stars. “ Incoming! Incoming!” Kerberos could say nothing, just pressing a hand to his temple. Just as he managed to send them enough signals to calm down, to block out the screams of the void, another voice broke through. “Greetings, my companions.” Distinct. Feminine. “I hope I am in time for the discussion?” Kerberos open his eyes, warily looking her up and down. He said nothing, but watched her carefully. “ Kerberos, do not—” “ I do not break my toys, ravens of Odin.” Kvrai spoke again, but it was different. Her demeanor, her aura, her stance had changed from being merely aloof to being professional. It would be admirable to most, really. “The Infinite is preparing for connection. It would not do us good to keep them waiting; they could annihilate us where we stand.” She made a little statement about not having to participate, but it was fairly obvious it was pretense. No one in their right mind would come all the way out here just to— Oh. “ Kvrai’s OAI, Xii, would like to make preparations. Permission to grant contact?” Kerberos nodded, too lazy to bother thinking a reply. They set about the connection, working out the roles them so as not to put too much strain on any of the three of them. Despite appearances, they really did try their best. It just so happened their best was questionable when applied to Kerberos. A rather large baby to sit, after all. “ Stars guide you.” It filtered in at first, like an old channel filled with static. Then, it cleared. “ We will be connecting to the Infinite in three... two... one.” “ Huginn, begin transliteration.” “ Munnin, abnormal signals in sector C-349.” Kebreros tuned most of the technobabble out. When something important showed up, he would listen. Until then, he leaned against a sturdy post, matte eyes flicking between the other Promethaen. They all fought for the Empire, that was known, but they all did it in their own ways. And others, like Dae’myr and Lokotus, had known ulterior motives. Though Lokotus was more benign, Dae’myr could be worrisome if angered. Kerberos did not intend to do so. Zsasilda and Kvrai were the wild cards. The Eye of the Infinite was a high rank. He knew his sister was also Exemplar, but not her exact placement. It was strange. Huginn and Muninn went about their own tasks, leaving Kerberos, for once, to his own thoughts. So quiet. Too quiet. How... droll. |

Of course, Uri. I am sorry.
She hadn't seen Kerberos in quite some time. She'd heard rumours that he was aboard the Drakonborg, but either she had not encountered him personally or Uri had elected to keep his presence from her. She'd thought perhaps he was dead. Maybe it would have been better that way, for all of them.
Zsasilda didn't really know this Dae'myr, and took the opportunity to examine him now. He seemed...familiar, somehow. Perhaps she had encountered him during her time as a Major Promethaen, or even just seen some human who looked a little like his current form. Evidently he and the Eye of the Infinite had come to some disagreement. Not that that was overly surprising. For one so young, Kvrai had managed to attain an almost suspiciously high rank, which didn't exactly sit well with every Promethaen.
"Stars guide you. We will be connecting to the Infinite in three... two... one."
She refocused her thoughts and waited for the discussions to begin. Uri was doing something in the background, ensuring that the connection would be strong and not cause them any kind of discomfort. In her relatively short lifetime, Zsasilda had seen some reasonably unusual things happen with long distance connections. She and Uri would be taking no chances.

Lokotus grimances, eyes widening. "Careful, Endwalker, or I will have to retract my statement."
"The flesh-suit appears to fit you like the skin it is, my dear--how sad. One of the Infinite, most comfortable as a lowly human! It's as if you were born for the role." ))
"Oh, Kvrai, my dear. How I have missed you as well! As the humans say, distance makes the heart grow fonder." He clutches at his chest and bats his eyelashes longingly in her direction.
It had been a great deal of time since he had been around so many Promethaen in one spot without a single human to muddy their interactions. Lokotus often enjoyed being the sarcastic little annoyance so many looked at him as among his people. It was no problem for him to have others think lower of him, because when the time came to strike, it was best that they thought little of him and would not expect the strength by which he struck.
Not that he chose to fight often. That was dirty business that he would much rather leave to others.
Melanctha spoke from the depths of him in a language that brought him as close to peace as he could get. "Lokotus, the Silverblooded's OAI requests connection. Shall I complete the request?"
His language of origin floated through his head, causing him to let out a pleased hum as he expressed his answer through a single thought of affirmation.
And then he was among the infinite.

With all the willing parties had been collected, her OAI reached out with her energies to the Halcyon, which had meandered like a giant caterpillar through space to rest on the dark side or the moon, cloaked by illusion.
"Psychespacial room initiating," came the smooth voice of a shipboard OAI.
Good, I figured we'd be using psychespacial tech to meet. Kvrai preferred this method above even speaking, sometimes.
The magic kicked in, and the minds of her little circle of agents as well as the much larger circle of Infinite melded together into a seamless world entirely in their brains. The psychespacial tech was based on how one daydreamed--however, it was controlled by a central link initiator and, while all could move and interact (their minds filling in unimportant details naturally), only the initiator could actually control the full measure of their surroundings.
The Silverblooded glanced around, identifying the initiator with ease. It was her very own male progenitor, Tzintl--one of the Infinite himself.
A shining example of a pulsar-born Promethaen, his scales were as dark as the void between the stars, shifting through the entire spectrum as light refracted off of him. His hide was impeccable, iridescent scales healed from a considerable number of wounds with the most expensive magic available. His wings expanded high above his regally-arched neck, disappearing into onyx mist. He was much larger than nearly all of the Promethaen there, simply due to age and prowess.
Behind him, the other Exemplar Promethaen reclined on hovering divots, elegant and graceful in their exquisite adornments, each projecting an air of lofty ease.
The room appeared to be bounded by smooth black walls, perfectly circular, lit by a twisting serpentine design in the ceiling, which shone with phosphorescence. So her father had chosen to model their room after an existing one on his personal ship, then. The only difference was the entire lack of a door--something unique to psychespacial tech. They were either entirely in a capsuled area or infinite in dimension, bounded only by what your mind conjured as you went.
"The coils fall," Tzintl greeted them traditionally. "Welcome, my little extremophiles."
Kvrai glanced around briefly. She herself had chosen to regain her Promethaen form rather than retain her human one, however, each had made that decision on their own.
Having made her observation in a flicker of a second, she looked inquiringly at her father. It wasn't time to drag this on, even if the "comet" wasn't particularly close to them, she still had work to do.
"We must bite the beast at its spine. There is, as you have noticed, a comet approaching Earth. However, this is no normal comet. This comet has the potential to wipe out the entirety of humanity. Allow me to explain: this comet is, in fact, one of the old Zeta-model Bastion Prisons. I understand that a few of you are too young to remember when this particular idea was sparked. Understand that these prisons were intended to contain our most powerful enemies, whom we had to dispose of and could not with more... traditional methods."
Translation: enemies that we couldn't kill for some reason. Kvrai's pupils contracted with distaste, but otherwise she remained entirely calm. This could certainly cause some issues.
"In this case, it was a Class Beta hivemaster of the Xxidao race." The word seemed far too clacky to Kvrai, pronounced awkwardly like "ksi-chai-daoh," entirely unlike the fluid Promethaen tongue or even the rather lumbering, but at least tolerable, human language.
However, she knew of the Xxidao. The Promethaen had managed to dispose of them rather cleanly a few hundred SC ago. Had a hivemaster endured their onslaught?
"This particular hivemaster originally conspired with us. Unfortunately, it's bad form to kill your allies, especially when they don't betray you. We figured it best to... tuck her away. She will still be strong, and altogether rather displeased. The Infinite, in conjunction with tactical specialists, have ordered her death sentence."
Kvrai's pupils contracted once more. They voted without me present. Or the other members on Earth, for that matter. A wave of irritation washed through her. We were warned we may miss some meetings, but this is outright disrespect, even if we could not have made a difference in the decision. They must not think my drive softened by my cycles with the humans.
"A prudent measure, by my judgement," she spoke, voice as hard as it normally was when she spoke, eyes cold as the void and unfaltering as she held the gaze of each Exemplar, reminding them that she was their equal. "The Eye has no further inquiries at this time."
Tzintl nodded, giving no emotion away. However, Kvrai's guess was that he was reassured by his daughter's words--he would not have weakness in his family. "Excellent. Additional inquiries will now be taken."
"Not bad, Mistress. Asserting yourself before he can even jump to the bit about questions."
Kvrai did not deign to answer, instead waiting for her companions' reactions.

Deimos materialized in the psychespatial room with the Infinite. Ah, what joy it brings me to be near those elite who "deserve" their station.
"Though I doubt our minds are being intruded on, I would watch your thought patterns, brother." Phobos was calm as always. Ah, well.The Infinite explained the situation at hand. He snorted at "bad form to kill your allies," but otherwise remained silent. The Xxidao hivemaster had survived their original onslaught. How terribly unfortunate that its death sentence was ordered. Great! Fun. Perhaps we get to kill things. Perhaps not. It is all the same. " Yes, brother. It is all the same. Ever will we wait." Dae'myr stepped forward, having assumed a human form with a Promethaen tail that flicked back and forth. "I would like the Infinite to know that I have done everything in my power to enable a safe base of operations on this planet. We..." he gestured to the other Promethaen gathered with him, lingering on Kvrai for a mere instant longer than the rest. "... have been eagerly awaiting your command. A death sentence? Wonderful. A display of power for the humans... or are we to stick to the shadows? Perhaps let them sort it out, no? Watch them, as they fail to subdue the hivemaster? Overrun by the Xxidao? A new Xxidao queen, on a new world..." His eyes grew foggy for a moment as he imagined the carnage. He now addressed the other Promethaen. "What have we all been up to, hmm? I do grow so lonely without those of my species keeping me company. Perhaps an arrangement could be reached?" His mouth opened in a twisted grin, revealing fangs.
